Yep.  The more important an event is 4 me the more panic is likely to strike.   >:(

How is your diet overall?  Eating little and often can really help!  What time R your shifts?

Hi CLKD, thanks for replying. When I get like this it puts me off food. Work night shifts . Just  take banana and a couple of crackers on shift as can’t stomach food during night.  Porridge mornings and soup and sandwiches for tea today. But normal always have breakfast even if it’s late. Then veg and salmon for tea or chicken.
But the panic just comes out of nowhere and wham, wee  for England and shakes legs . Xxxxx

It's mayB partly due to blood sugar issues = anxiety surges.  As I come out of a panic attack - the longest was 3 days/nights - I pee for England, quantity every 10 mins for hours  :'( :-\ and the shaky legs too.  Anxiety = nausea so I can't think about eating.

Bananas are good for potassium and slow release: 3/4 small ones every few hours might help.  Dried fruits and nuts are 1 of my stand bys.  Easy to transport in a pocket ;-).

I will try that CLKD , I think you’re possibly correct in blood sugar issues as I go too long in between eating .  As I do sometimes feel better after food .  Thank you so much for replying. Am the same wee every few minutes, it’s weird that isn’t. Xxxx

Cazz63 I am post meno too.  My stress/anxiety got worse after a life changing situation for me and to help this I started taking a few sprays of rescue remedy spray before starting my work each day and it does work a trick and seems to get me through my shifts at work & the days.  Maybe it could help you too and worth a try? x

Oh yes definitely cazz63

My OH was seriously ill last year, not sure how I/we got through it tbh.
That panic is horrendous, your not alone, then afterwards your on a back burner in anticipation of it coming back. It’s just awful, and no one understands unless they’ve been through it.
Hope your OH is feeling better now, so look after yourself, eat often, and plenty water to drink. xx

R U concerned about leaving OH alone = a wave of anxiety?  Sometimes 4 me it makes me drawer a sudden deep breath in an 'oh no' kind of reaction.   :-\

Thank you Jillydoll,
Hope your OH is much  better too.
You’re sort of living on auto pilot. Life changes and it just takes some time to change with it . You don’t always realise how many people out there are going through their own tough times.
Take care too xxx

Hi CLKD, I think that’s right leaving him and worrying that he’s going to be okay .
When he’s always been the strong one . Trying to keep things to yourself so you’re not putting  anymore on them . Xxx

Hello cazz63

I refer to these sensations as 'surges' and they happen frequently throughout the day. I also have moments of calm and optimism so I swing both ways lol.

I am sorry to hear that you have worries about your OH and I hope that resolves soon. This can be a challenging time of life unfortunately.

Wishing you well and take care.

K.

Hi cazz23,

Sorry to hear you are suffering.

I had never experienced anxiety or panic before the menopause so when I had my first "surge", as Kathleen so aptly calls it, it was utterly terrifying.

The anxiety comes and goes (with my hormones) and, so far, the panic episodes have been much less frequent. Both experiences are just horrible, but I have learnt the hard way to just strap myself in and tell myself they will pass. And they do.

As the other ladies have said, the timing of this menopause phase in life is not good as we have other external stressors to manage. For me, I became the family carer for my mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimers at beginning of Covid when I was her bubble (just me). She is now in a carehome and after 5 years of the literal madness, I can say they have been the most stressful years of my life. Throw in palliative care for my F-I-L who died at home a year ago and my own & husband's health scares, I think it all exacerbates the hormonal fluctuations, symptoms and stress.

For me the higher dosages of HRT made the anxiety worse and I am much better on a lower dose.

Sending you best wishes X

Thankyou kathleen
Yes the surges are awful they just come out of nowhere. Have periods of being okay and then these sudden surges. Then you’re just waiting for next one and that doesn’t help. Thankyou for replying xx lots of us going through this together take care xxx

Magnesium is really good for anxiety. I take Remag and have Epsom salt baths. It makes such a difference. The Betteryou spray is also very good and can be easily used when you’re out and about.

Hi Kathrine,
Just worried about taking magnesium due to palpitations. Think it might make them worse but thank you for advice xx
