Title: Perimenopause and anxiety
Post by: Stresshead47 on November 14, 2024, 01:46:23 PM
Hi I am new here. I have had hot flashes and night sweats for a while and my periods have become irregular and heavy. I have noticed that my anxiety is way worse than it used to be and for the last couple of months I've been doing stage 5 poops once or twice sometimes three times a day. The colour is fine, no blood, no pain. I am waiting to hear back from my doctor but I am terrified. My health anxiety is through the roof. Anyone else had this when starting to go through perimenopause. I will be 47 at the end of November.

Hear you loud and clear! I feel like I've been in one giant panic attack for 2 years. If I didn't have health anxiety before I sure as hell do now.

And I work in healthcare, so that feeds the problem.

Sorry you're struggling. But you're not alone. I'm trying to find the ideal oestrogen dose for me right now in hopes it helps. Already take a pretty high dose of sertraline and use promethizine/zopiclone to sleep as that's a real problem for me.

I also experience the anxiety poo problem. Started taking magnesium to help sleep and that made it worse. I can laugh about it though--the anxiety, not so much.

Wishing you a calm day.

Thank you for your reply. I wish I had never seen that bristol stool chart thing. My health anxiety loves a hook to cling on to. Hopefully when the doc gets back to me he'll tell me it's nothing to worry about lol

Yep.  During my menstruating years, the night B4 a bleed began I would sob and 10 mins B4 the bleed the next morning, I would have to dash to the loo, no arguments: even if a period wasn't due!  I suspect that your alteration of bowel movements is either hormonally related or you may have altered your diet in the last 3 months?

MayB make a note of everything that you eat/drink for 3 days/nights.  I've had to alter what I eat cutting out a lot of processed stuff [other than chocolate  ;)] .  More fruits and veg., cutting out Coke and replacing with fizzy bottled water which I can carry with me when out and about.  Stopped eating scones etc.; anything with hidden sugars and fats; when in a cafe and haven't drunk coffee for years = nausea++.

...... and breath!  My periods waxed and waned for several years B4 stopping.  It's The Change, does what it says on the tin.
