Just wondering if anyone has ever used an epilater? Now I'm using testosterone I've noticed my thighs, just above my knees is getting slightly hairier and I do not want to start shaving that far up!! Plus I'm forever nicking myself when I shave my lower legs. In the summer I have to shave my legs & underarms every other day.
Wondering if they're painful or not and if they're effective?

Hi Mrs Mitch
I used one once on the lower part of my legs but I found it to painful, but I have friends that have used them with no problem so maybe it's just how we all feel pain differently.

I use one on my lower legs and don't feel anything when using it. When I bought it, many years ago now, it had a plastic 'ice pack' that clipped onto it, the idea being that the v cold plastic rolled over your leg just ahead of the epilator to numb the area. I found I didn't need it but, if they still do these, it might be worth a try for you.
I have to say I've never used it on underarms, I stick to shaving there, and never had the need to go above knee so no idea how it would feel on the softer (ie flabbier 🤭) skin there.
I think as we're all so different by way of pain threshold you'd probably have to take the plunge and invest in one to see if it's for you.

I use one, I will say it's sore the first time but if you just tap it onto your leg quickly until you get used to it,they're fab, hair takes ages to grow back, I use it on my legs and under arms :D

I’ve used one for years , underarms, all of my legs and bikini area , at first it hurt like hell but now I don’t really feel anything and the bonus of doing it for so many years is the hair now grows back very fine probably why it hurts less and my underarms barely grow any hair due to repeated epilating , and it lasts around 6 weeks, would never go back to shaving I hated that stiff stubble which I’d get the day after shaving.
Give it a go if it hurts a lot keep going because it’s a bit like tattoos the skin eventually becomes numb to the pain after a few minutes.

Thank you ladies, I will take the plunge and invest in one. Since being on testosterone my underarm hair is really ugly when stubbly. I've never experienced this before, it's gone very dark and it's hard to describe how it looks but it's awful. But the benefits of testosterone outweigh something that I can remove.
Ghe length of time it takes the hair to grow back is very appealing too, so also good to hear. Off to Amazon!
