I have been on Vagifem pessaries for around 10 months now and they are really helping. But I do get breast tenderness quite a lot. Is this common? Also, my hair is quite fine and I do lose a fair bit when washing it. Is this common with Vagifem too or is this just part of post menopause? Many thanks for this amazing group x

There are women who suffer side effects from Vagifem or Estriol when they first use the treatment but things tend to settle down with time.
I would say that the hair loss is down to the ageing process, the fall out will stop and further down the line it starts to fall out again as the ageing process continues.

I agree, your symptoms sound meno, I'd doubt such a low dose of topical oestrogen as vagifem is would cause such symptoms

Some have reported headaches with initial use of 'vagifem' which do settle.
How often are u inserting the pessary?
Headaches can be caused by dehydration.
Hair loss can be problematic during peri. MayB to to see a good stylist for advice?

Thank you for your replies. I use Vagifem twice weekly. And the breast tenderness began not long after using it. I had a mammogram back in the summer and all was ok. The hair loss started before using Vagifem so I guess that is post meno or combination? Have just had my hair cut hoping to give it some strength? My stylist recommended taking Biotin for my hair and nails.

I'd also suggest vit d + K2 quite necessary,especially in the winter months :)

Mavis - let us know how you get on with those suggestions, is it something that the salon sell?
Is Vagifem twice a week enough?

The hairdresser suggested taking Biotin tablets as she had recommended them to other clients in the past with good results. She suggested buying them at the chemist. I have been taking vitamin D for a long time too. The Vagifem twice weekly seems to be ok but occasionally I use YES to help with the soreness when it flares up.
Thank you for your replies.
