Title: Utrogestan Help!
Post by: Gingermonkey on November 02, 2024, 05:35:48 PM
Hi, I'm seriously considering paying for a menopause specialist. I'm 50 next week been perimenopausal for 6 years. Been on alot of different HRT but none successful. My most recent HRT was Lenzetto spray twice every night and Utrogestan 200mg every day with a 3 day break. This was for a year until I kept waking at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Tried switching Lenzetto to patches and taking utrogestan on days 15 to 26. 1st month was fine but then my skin was reacting to the patches and my headaches came back worse. I'm also on amitriptyline 10mg every night for hormone induced migraines. I went back to the lenzetto spray and changed to taking the utrogestan vaginally. It's been over a month and I feel awful 😖 Headaches are so bad, anxiety, light sensitivity and my vision is blurry sometimes. Last month it calmed downed after a couple of weeks but then comes back. I have had a CT scan and all normal. I presume I'm still having periods but don't know as the break in utrogestan gives you a bleed. I am going to try taking the utrogestan orally again on 15th Nov and see how this goes. I'm seriously considering paying for a menopause specialist as I'm so fed up of these headaches and feeling like crap. Anyone had similar issues who can offer advice?  :'(

Welcome.

Firstly:  :cake:   :hbday:  'cos I'll 4get.

Did U have headaches or are they associated with the HRT?  Migraines sometimes become worse with hormonal upheavals.

Many have problems with the progesterone part of a regime.

Which symptom would you like to ease first?  Many GPs don't understand what women require so although we shouldn't have to pay, it is often the fastest way to get listened to although there are waiting lists.

Thank you  :)
I suffered with headaches during pregnancy and also whilst on a bleed but nothing like the ones I get on HRT. It's the headaches that  I'd really like to get rid of. Reading on here it sounds like it's the Utrogestan that is causing these unfortunately. I have changed the way I take them from end of August so I'm praying that this will settle by December 🤞 I think I'm going to have to pay unfortunately. Thank you for your reply 😊
