Sorry for the early post.
I've recently reduced my HRT patches from 150 to 100 and I've woken up this morning having a full on panic attack.. not had one fir ever a year. Has anyone experienced this when reducing HRT
-
Sorry to message again but I am so confused by the way I'm feeling. I've been crying all day and not felt this since May 2023.. I was then put on 150mg hrt and it really helped me mentally... nyt I was told after having blood tests to.go down to 100mg
. Which I did on Tuesday... I'm just wondering if this is normal??
-
Hi
Why have you reduced to 100 if 150 was working so well for you? Did your GP tell advise you to do this?
If I were you, I would go back on 150 because that is the dose which works to control your symptoms.
Any change of HRT dose is bound to have an effect on the body and mind.

I had blood tests in July and they only just told me that my levels were too high so I needed to come down to 100 and gave me 2.5mg tablets to take if I get hot flushes... I did think I should just do the 150 again but apparently being on a high dose when don't need it can make you ill??
-
I’m guessing you are under a meno specialist if you were on 150 of patches? What are the 2.5 mg tablets?
You clearly need the higher dose, so I’m not sure how it can make you ill? Do you have a womb?
-
Nope no womb.. I had a full hysterectomy at the age 36, 5 years ago...
She was saying that it wasn't good fir me to be on a high dose and my blood tests came back that my levels were too high

Hi Lisa
Clearly your oestrogen is too low. Blood tests aren’t accurate for perimenopause.
Personally id got back up my to 125 or 150 and see how you feel. 50 is a big reduction in one go!

Hi Nik,
Yeah think I'm gonna do the 125 and see how I feel.. I have another appointment in January so will tell them 100 didn't work for me... I'm shocked they even suggested that much to come down by

You are young and with no womb , I can’t see what the issue is with the high dose because clearly you need it.
These medics need to start listening to their patients I think!

Young surgical menopause patients often require higher doses, and clinicians should be treating the patient rather than just the numbers (unless they were really extreme eg consistent with pregnancy levels).
I would phone and find out what your blood level was first of all, and reference that against typical physiological levels found in premenopausal women.

I had a phone appointment with a Dr yesterday regarding my sleep... I've struggled with sleep for 21 years since becoming a mum. It's got to the point where I'm lucky if I get 3 hours a night now and that's broken.
I also then mentioned the HRT change and that I was struggling and his answer was
To try these strong sleeping tablets for a week and once I've had a couple of nights decent sleep then my menopause symptoms will disappear....
