Title: Irregular periods/Spotting/Bleeding
Post by: Primrose76 on October 17, 2024, 04:28:23 PM
Hi everyone, I'm really worried 😔 Up until August my periods were regular 24/25 days apart (they used to be 31 days apart a few years ago) but since then my periods have been like this.....

Aug 2nd period
August 22nd period, then my next one wasn't until 44 days later on October the 5th. I did have some slight spotting during those 44 days but not even enough for a pad really.
The last period ended on October 11th but yesterday (the 16th) I started bleeding again, like a period....Today it seems to only be when I wipe.
I am 48 so the right age for peri but does this sound 'normal'? I do have terrible anxiety, particularly health related and this is sending it through the roof and making me think allsorts.

Any help, advice or reassurance would be very much appreciated

Thank you! xx

 Hi !
I sympathize with you , I am your age and going through the same issue . In fact I was going to write a post about it !  I think all that we are experiencing are perimenopause symptoms and eventually we will get used to them and hopefully worry less!

Hi, and thank you for replying. It's horrible isn't it and so exhausting. I dread going to the toilet just incase I see blood. Hopefully we will get used to it soon or even better that we start to have regular periods again which are further apart, and then stop! The anxiety doesn't help because it always makes me think of the worst case scenarios. Plus I get a lot of anxiety symptoms anyway which makes it hard for me to lead a normal life.

It's good to know that we're not the only ones who are going through all of this isn't it. I never in a million years thought peri/menopause would be like this .

You don't have to put up with it!

Certainly nobody should be living in dread of going to the toilet!

I opted out of periods years ago, I take the combined pill continuously and don't bleed at all, or have any hormonal ups or downs whatsoever.

If the pill isn't for you there are multiple other options that you could discuss with your GP to get rid of this.
