The dr said Estriol is very safe , any advice would be appreciated thank you

Don't worry, you can't get vaginal estrogen wrong!

You wouldn't have been able to get either the applicator or your finger up your urethra.

If you aren't comfortable sticking anything up, just rubbing it around the outside is better than nothing until you get used to it.

It really is incredibly safe.

Have you ever used tampons, same place so no worries. Or as suggested smear it all around and up with your finger. Use the search box here for any posts on Vaginal Atrophy, knowledge is power with this condition.

Thank you for your reply’s ladies much appreciated, just another question I have been recently suffering with recurring UTIs always given antibiotics, it clears then back again, I felt one coming on Monday gave sample to dr came back today as positive but I’ve been feeling ok had no more burning etc, since Tuesday so could a urine sample read as a false positive? And is this part of VA? Because my symptoms have only really been burning feeling and UTis and uncomfortable feelings but since using estriol which has only been 4 days I feel so much better

In my own experience I also had a positive reading, further readings were negative but it was all caused by vaginal atrophy, a condition little known by the medics at my surgery.
Four years on using treatment I never experience UTI symptoms now, I never did in my life before but was given antibiotics that in hindsight were never needed. Three months of agony and all I needed was topical oestrogen.

If you have difficulty with an applicator you may find the tablet form such as vagifem easier, you can push them up with your fingers as far as you can reach.

Thank you … I never use to suffer with UTIs until now but all mine has come back as positive, but have been taking D’ mannose 1 sachet a day so not sure if that’s cleared my UTI, but I’ve only started estriol 4 days ago also just bought some olive & bee but starting to feel better not sure if the estriol works so quick

I bought a cushion with a hole in the middle, don't know what they are called, it didn't help much really. But keep using the oestrogen, that's what will get you better and you won't feel uncomfortable for long. It usually takes a while to work but you are doing well.

I’ve been fine all day and about 7pm the burning has started, dr sent urine test to the lab got results saying positive but all week I’ve been fine, I’ve read that VA can mimic a UTI but if it’s positive is it still VA ? I suffer with health anxiety so I’m worried by getting lots of UTIs I never used to suffer from them until the last few months could this still be VA ? I’ve just started Estriol 4 days ago and using multi acti gel

Do yourself a favour!

Go back to your GP and tell him/her to read this:

https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,69936.msg949995.html#msg949995

And then, ask for Estring, and systemic HRT!

After it works, you will not need anything down there.

Good as new!

Orria, Kazer1's GP is treating her appropriately at this time, it is not for us to instruct a member or push the use of systemic HRT, we can only give advice about our own experiences.
Its also not true that you won't need topical oestrogen if taking systemic HRT, women can need both treatments.

Yes, it can still be VA, you are very early days into treatment, it can take a while to settle down, sometimes as much as three months. Its patience, trial and error at this time.

Ask for a bespoke chair to be made by your workplace.

I have two U cushions that were made by a disability cooperative for home and car for when I feel uncomfortable.

Putnams are a company that do cutout cushions that are portable.

Right dose of systemic HRT protects against VA.

In my case, it showed up after my dose was decreased. 3x UTI, no response from GP, only antibiotic. Now, after increase by private gino, I can feel how it's going away.

Yes, it's my own experience.
