Title: Flu jab side effects
Post by: shrosphirelass on September 30, 2024, 04:33:06 PM
Does anyone know if acute nausea and headache is a side effect of the flu jab? Had it on Friday and yesterday started to feel awful. Maybe I've  picked up a virus and its not related.

Do let your GP know.  It may be that your immune system has been activated.  This happened a few weeks ago for me when I had the shingles booster.  Although I have no recall of getting the vaccine in Feb  :-\ obviously the booster reminded my body to fight : after 5-6 hours I felt off colour, very cold, couldn't get warm not even under the electric blanket.  The worse as the loud tinnitus and electric zaps up the back of my head, which kept me awake until the early hours. Then the headache began so up at 5.00 a.m. for Nurofen  ::).

DH let me sleep in.  I knew that the effect was the immune system kicking in so wasn't too worried.  However, I won't have the flu booster this time as I haven't had 'flu since 1989.  I am booked in for the Covid booster soon.

Get some liquids down you with Paracetamol.  How is the injection site?

It could be as they are flu symptoms, and I know a couple of people who were really poorly with flu symptoms after having the flu jab.
Perhaps ring your surgery or pharmacist and ask them.

It's the immune system being jogged into fighting the booster.  Let us know what the GP Surgery suggests.

Do U feel better/worse overnight?

Still feeling rubbish, very sick and bad head.

The injection site is fine. My arm was sore for a couple of days but fine now.

I'm thinking maybe its not related and is a virus as I'm also slightly sniffily.

My neighbour had mainly nausea and headache as her COVID symptoms last week. Hardly any cold symptoms at all.

Interesting Taz, I hope it's that in a way. I'm still feeling rubbish. I have been a bit sniffly but no other cold symptoms. My grown up son who currently lives at home had a virus the week before.
