Title: Will I still need estriol
Post by: lor.com on September 20, 2024, 10:01:22 AM
Going onto patches but have been using estriol cream for vaginal atrophy. Doctor seems to think I won’t need estriol cram anymore? Any thoughts?

That's a wait and see situation, some women need both treatments and some don't.

Unless you are on high dose patches/systemic estrogen, you probably will still need local. But see how it goes.

It is very safe to have both and your doctor is wrong if they are putting pressure on you to stop local estrogen. There's no need.

I imagine there are plenty of us who use both systemic and local HRT. If you're susceptible to vaginal dryness or bladder issues it's likely you'll benefit from continuing with the estriol cream. If so don't hesitate to assure your doctor you still prefer to remain on it!
