Title: Vaginal bumps/bleeding.
Post by: Wend861 on September 15, 2024, 12:52:17 PM
Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of a lumpy/bumpy area in the vagina that bleeds?

As background, I bled very slightly the last two times I had intercourse over the last couple of months but no other symptoms. After the second time I saw my GP who briefly examined me and then referred me for a scan which I had last week and was normal. They also did a swab which showed I had thrush and has been treated. I was going to go back to see the GP about next steps.
Yesterday I saw a notification on Facebook from Eveappeal about checking your vulva. I haven't done this for years so thought I better.
I believe I have found the source of the bleeds which is now really concerning me. Just inside my vagina on the right hand side I have a lumpy/bumpy area that bled when I felt it. It looks different to the left side which is smooth. As you can imagine I am now thinking the worst. I don't know if this can happen for non sinister reasons?
I will be trying to get an urgent GP appointment. I know it could be a symptom of cancer but could it be anything else?

Thank you for reading.

Could it be lichen sclerosus?

I don't think so. This is an area of raised bumps/lumps that bleed not flat discoloured skin. Thank you for your reply though.

I had some raised bumps in that area, that were removed and biopsied and came back as benign. They didn't bleed and the doctor said it was my choice to either have them removed or just leave them.
Is it possible that they've been scratched during sex and are still healing, so they bleed when touched?

I saw the Dr today. I had to direct her to where they are. She said it looked like lots of scratches too. The only thing I can think of is using applicators to insert Vagifem. I also had thrush last week and used 3 nightly pessaries. I have a slight prolapse and didn't insert lying down so think it may have been a bit tight up there. She did see another 'lump' but said it looked like scar tissue. She has referred me to gynae so that they can have a look.

jaypo, No I always have at least 2 layers on!! I think it may be the vagifem/applicators, I am hoping so anyway. Tissue in that area is very fragile as we get older isn't it? She saw something like scar tissue too. I am trying not to stress too much but I do and getting a letter saying "suspected cancer!" doesn't help either.
