Title: How long did it take?
Post by: Garnet161 on September 04, 2024, 05:48:55 AM
Hi all,
I recently started Ovestin vaginal cream (it's day 6).  I can already feel a difference with the dryness - it seems to be better already, but my bladder can still be uncomfortable.  I must admit, compared to this time last month, my bladder is definitely better.  I am expecting it to take a while to see improvements in that region as that is where my issue is.
Can anyone else tell me how long it took to see improvements with their bladder when starting Ovestin/Estriol cream please?

Early days but pleased that you are feeling some benefit.  Keep using every night until you feel comfy.  When I get the need2P sensations I swallow 2 nuerofen 3 times a day which stops that nip as the urine flow shuts off.

If my symptoms niggle I put a dose up mid afternoon and again at night for 5 nights.  I've been using this regime for eversomany years ;-)

I also put a smear of estriol on the outer labia/vulva when necessary.

Its a very individual thing but it took me four months to feel normal again. By the sounds of it you are already doing well, patience being the key!

Thanks everyone :-)
I am feeling a little better already, but each day is so unpredictable! I have found great relief from dilating for 4-5 mins nightly and taking a microflora probiotic alongside the Ovestin.
Such a learning curve!  Longing for the day when I feel 100% (or close to 100%) again.  I can cope with pain but the urging and spasms are just debilitating.  Cross fingers I am on the right path now.

Hello Garnet, my bladder sensitivity didn't improve much at all in spite of using both Ovestin and estradiol every night for 8 months. However I've been using testogel for a couple of months now and each week my symptoms are improving.  If I wake up in the night I can go back to sleep without needing to get up to pee, I don't often get the feeling I need to pee when I only went a short time ago. I've also found that during the day I can go quite a long time without feeling the need to pee. Maybe if you don't get the relief you hope for after a few months, you could see if testosterone helps?

Ok thanks for the tip, MrsMitch - I will mention that to the doctor when I see her in a couple of weeks.

Hard to say because I also started systemic HRT at the same time and as I increased the systemic HRT had less and less need for the local products - and now I don't use any local products at all and am fine with systemic only. So I'm not sure how much the improvement was due to what....
