Hi again all,
So much wisdom in these pages. I am on Ovestin 0.5mg estriol vaginal cream - just 5 days in. My doc told me there was no need for a progesterone supp with such a low dose estriol cream.
However, I am a little concerned and wanted to see if anyone else is just on the vaginal cream without progesterone.
Thanks.

It’s fine to use the oestrogen vaginal cream without progesterone.

Thanks for the reply. I am seeing that more and more often. I do have some topical progesterone I can use occasionally but good to know it doesn't have to be a routine as such.

Estriol/Ovestin dosage is so tiny, if you used every day it's only equivalent to 3 oral HRT tablets per year. There is no need for progesterone and if you start using it you may get a bleed that could then need an unnecessary investigation. I use Vagifem daily and estriol externally daily without progesterone and have done for years.

Thanks for the explanation. Fairly new to all this!
I am noticing that many women use Vagifem and Ovestin. I have only tried Ovestin so far and I am noticing improvements already after 7 days. I do have a script for Vagifem so I guess if the Ovestin doesn't work to my liking, I can try both.

Usually when using both, the Vagifem is used internally and Ovestin used externally around the vulva. Sounds like the Ovestin is suiting you and good to hear things are impoving so quickly, it can somtimes take weeks or months to get better.
