Title: Will it get better?
Post by: Tired.com on August 20, 2024, 05:36:50 PM
Hi

I had a hysterectomy at 38 due to PMT removing ovaries. Took some HRT then nothing however approx 10 years ago started feeling depressed and anxious for which I was prescribed antidepressants- fast forward two years ago - breakdown! GP suggested checkibg hormone levels after I stated that antidepressants were not helping- levels were very low so restarted HRT - Lenzetto with a view to add testosterone once  hormone levels were within normal range- this took two years and have just started Testogel- so at 61, four sprays of Lenzetto, Testogel gel alternate days a-(6 weeks in ) So why do I still feel down and suicidal as I cant belive I have to continue feeling like this for rest if my life.
I have low self esteem due to weight gain and breast growth- gone from a B cup to J whilst in HRT - GP isnt very intersted in this but not being able tomlose weight is sooo hard, I go to the gym 4-5 times a week to do classes or weights, so am very active as well as walking dog!
Always tired, need lots of naps and then sleep all night- just awful life and so down- is this normal?

No it's not normal.

That's a good thing, it means multiple options exist that could potentially help you feel better.

Have you gained weight all over or is it just your breasts?

Firstly I would get your thyroid and prolactin levels checked as well as a full blood count, metabolic panel and B12.

Secondly if it is definitely the HRT that has driven the breast hypertrophy I would consider switching to tibolone.

i have gained weight all over,  over 10 year period but breasts have been worse currently 3 stone over weight so breast may decrease if I lose weight but that is harx, have managed to lose 1 stone since January but find it very hard - breastsalways so sore and painful, difficult finding right bra’s as not always stock so have been measured and now buy online.
Full bloods have been done and all ok, Thyroid has also been done, not recently tho and was normal- I am just frustrated as wouldnt have had hysterectomy all those years ago if I thought would still be struggling with hormones almost 30 years later!
Cried in exercise class yesterday, trying so hard, cant eat what I want cos weight just piles on and I dont know who I am anymore…

Do you have any histamine or gut issues? Tested things like vitamin Bs and Vitamin D etc?

Did you get a copy of all bloods and check levels yourself (optimal/functional medicine levels)? As GP says you are fine unless leg is hanging off!!!!
