Title: Minimum progesterone for protection
Post by: kittydaydream on August 15, 2024, 07:40:17 AM
Hi ladies I’m looking for advice……I have been taking Utrogestan continuously and it makes me feel terrible, broken sleep, early waking with palpitations and anxiety! I tried Provera and that was even worse! I’m on 100 estraderm so I’m wondering if I halved the dose what is the minimum Utrogestan I can use for protection? I’m waiting for an appointment for mirena which I’ve tolerated before but it may be a month so I just need to get through probably a month? Thank you!

You don't really want to add low estrogen symptoms to your already existing situation, so I don't recommend halving estrogen dose. Besides which, there is zero evidence that if you did halve it to 50, you would need less progesterone - the guidelines would have you taking the same 100mg continuously even on 50mcg of estrogen.

If you are just trying to get through the next month until you get a Mirena, you can reduce your progesterone dosage - nothing terrible is going to happen in one month.
