Title: most tolerated hrt
Post by: alltheleaves on August 13, 2024, 04:28:34 PM
A big question , I have been on evorel conti nearly 3 months, could only tolerate 1/2 patch to start with because i had anxiety and low mood .
my mood swings have been extreme, a few windows of feeling positive about stuff , feeling like there’s a point in the future, but sometimes my brain just goes black like bad depression.
I have been riding this out for this 3 months , but my sleep anxiety has increased to point of needing the crisis team one day . Heart palpitations in the night .
my ovaries were radiated in march , so i am wondering if it isn’t the patches but my hormones getting worse as the months go on .
My sadness seems to have gone but no happiness, just existing and i can’t barely think about making a meal sometimes it makes me anxious.
I have had days were i took off patch and felt good for a couple days then down again.
A couple weeks ago I was going out now my anxiety is making me not want to , I put a full patch on out of desperation one day and the next day i felt rubbish low in morning then at 11.30 am my head cleared and i felt positive and great , it only lasted a few hours then i plunged again .
Can’t work out if hrt making me worse or it need increased or changed , did buy biovea to try just don’t know what to do , pharmacist said maybe it’s the delivery system up and down as well , i just don’t know x

Evorel conti has only 50mcg of estrogen - this is unlikely to be adequate for someone in iatrogenic menopause.

Also testosterone should be considered once you are adequately estrogenised.

This may not solve all your problems but it's where I'd start.

Hello alltheleaves.

I agree with Bombsh3ll that you likely need a higher dose of Oestrogen.

Mood changes such as you describe have been the bain of my life since becoming post menopausal. I had been three years without a period before I began HRT so although my ovaries atrophied naturally I was very low on oestrogen when I used my first 50 mg patch which didn't help very much.

I suggest you see your GP and explain how you are feeling. You have been using this patch for three months so you have given that particular method a good go but now it may be time for an increase or a different type of HRT. Your GP can also monitor your progress with blood tests.

Wishing you well and let us know how you get on.

K.
