Title: Is it high or low oestrogen?
Post by: LuLuLu72 on August 12, 2024, 02:48:01 PM
Hello all, I am 52 currently still having periods although these have been sporadic lately. 4 months with none then 2 in a month. I take 2 pumps of Oestrogel and 100 mg of Utrogestan nightly. I have noticed a massive increase in anxiety and low mood over last week. Is anyone out there good at identifying too high or too low oestrogen. I really cannot tell but know that too high makes me feel jittery and very panicky. I have taken 3 pumps before and wondering if I should try again now my periods are very unreliable. Grateful for any info. x

2 pumps is a pretty low entry-level dose and it's unlikely this is too high. It's much more likely to be too low, and anxiety is a symptom of low estrogen...

Thank you so much for your reply, this is now the conclusion I'm drawing!  :)

For me, low estrogen made me depressed and cranky and anxious.
High estrogen, wired and agitated. Super chatty.

Yes I am beginning to think it is low as the hot flushes have returned and not sleeping so well now. Thank you so much! it is very hard to get the balance right in Perimenopause I find. I have read somewhere that the biggest drops in oestrogen occur in the six months prior to periods stopping and given my age and erratic cycle I think that is where I am xx

The hot flashes and night sweats are definitely low estrogen. You're on the right path!!

Thank you! I took an extra pump last night and slept really well and feel much calmer. I have always found it difficult to tell as my readings are all over the place (1969 to 75)  hoping as periods start to stop things will be less extreme. I have friends of my age who are post menopausal while I'm still in the worst of peri! thanks for your help, much appreciated xx
