Title: Losing my voice (perimenopause)
Post by: Birdbrain on June 20, 2024, 02:55:24 PM
Hi,

I noticed my voice has getting deeper and croakier in the past few months and by now I am struggling to speak for any length of time because it's so hoarse. I'm on Evorel Sequi patches but no effect. Is this normal? I'm not able to talk without repeatedly clearing my throat. Will higher dose HRT fix this? Thanks

Have you had your thyroid checked, this can be a symptom.

Hi, I had the same thing and my doctor has told me it’s silent reflux.
I also have sore throat off and on.
I had my thyroid checked but was fine so now on Omeprazole for 6 weeks but still get hoarseness and sore throat !

@Dierdre, I had a thyroid issue in the past so did have it tested recently and results are normal..

@Mitsit, I have had acid reflux in the past, but recently its been a lot better so not sure. It doesn't seem to coincide with when reflux has been bad in teh past. Can reflux cause deepening of the voice?

Thanks both for your replies.

I haven’t noticed deepening of the voice but throat clearing ,hoarseness ,sore throat ,metallic taste in my mouth but never heartburn.
Maybe get it checked out at the doctors for peace of mind
