Post by: Summer12 on May 31, 2024, 03:45:18 PM
Started hrt patches - was on the gel and tablets but decided to change. I've been on the evoril sequi for nearly 4 weeks now. Had really bad pins and needles in left side of face and eye area, this moved to my left arm and hand, then it's started in my left leg! Am about to give up its horrible. Anyone else same issues??

The gel stank to be honest and I thought I'd forget to take tablets. Was only on the gel a week.

Hi discogirl

My whole left arm was really painful, including shoulder, fingers too, burning left face temple and eye, never went off, painkillers didn't tough it. Sort of wore off a bit but legs feel weird and numb and pins and needles with really painful fingers and bits of hand also going really dizzy at odd times and generally feeling rubbish- mood is terrible and honestly not sure and benefits outweigh the side effects at the moment.

STOP and seek advice from a Pharmacist?

Those symptoms can be caused by spinal problems from head downwards.  As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax so your regime may be aggravating muscular problems.

Summer, these are known neurological symptoms of menopause and peri-menopause, caused by fluctuating estrogen levels. They might go away if you stop - but they also might not, because your own ovaries are causing the fluctuations.

If this wasn't happening on the gel, that would be the best option really. The smell is just alcohol and it doesn't smell once it's dried...

The issue with Evorel Sequi is you can't adjust the dose. It is fixed in the patch to fit with the level of progestin prescribed. And with these neuro symptoms you can often need quite a high dose of estrogen to override the fluctuations from your own body. (I'm now on 11 pumps of gel to get me to around 500pmol.)

It is known that carpal tunnel syndrome can be activated during pregnancy so it stands to reason that HRT may well cause similar symptoms.

MayB put your regime into the search box: separately: make notes ;-).

Also ask for the treatment that you used initially?  Let us know!
