Hi so I'm thinking of going to the gel because I've got bad anxiety....particularly upon waking.
Anyone know the best time to apply the gel for this symptom? Xx
-
It's best to apply gel AM and PM to keep levels as even as possible. So split your dose between AM and PM.
(I do 5 pumps AM and another 5 PM.)
-
I use 4 pumps every morning. Once the gel has reached a level that stops your symptoms then you just keep topping it up every morning. Try and do it it at roughly the same time.

I used to do it as soon as I woke up in the morning as I wake really early, then go back to bed while it dries!
Although I was only on one pump, of you're on loads you may have to stagger the dose as you'll run out of limbs!

I used to apply in the morning after my shower. But sometimes I’d give myself a mid afternoon “ top up”.

I thought this is no longer advised (due to equilibrium reached between skin reservoir and concentration in blood)? I did read somewhere though can't remember where?

Yes I think we are supposed to take dose all in one go.... Nevertheless I feel better doing a little top up at night time. Having tried it both ways this seems to suit me best. I guess we are all different and have to find our own path that works for us x

Awww thanks all you're,all so kind xxxx

So you're on 10 pumps?
-
Correct. Which gets my serum estradiol to around 430pmol.
The problem is I need to trial getting it higher, to around 600pmol, to see if that helps my night time symptoms more. And I can't use more gel, that would be ridiculous. So at some point I'm going to need to switch products. I think I can do 11 pumps of gel, but any more is going to be v hard...

I do AM and PM. Have I missed something in the guidelines?
What is the issue with splitting the dose, can someone please elaborate?

My Newson drs tell me to split the dose, I wouldn't worry.

Hello ladies
joziel. - A few years ago my Newson Health doctor suggested that I use six pumps of gel and a follow up blood test showed that my Oestradiol levels were 600. At that time I was splitting the dose between morning and bedtime.
I am quite a small person and the amount of gel felt too much so I was switched to three Sandrena gel 1 mg sachets. The gel in the sachets is much less runny and dries well.
You may find that Sandrena sachets are a suitable alternative to Oestrogel pumps.
I hope this helps and take care.

Yes, it's on the list for the next thing to try.
600 is quite a good dose for many women, could be too high for some. But many need to be 450-600pmol and feel best there.
It's a lot of gel. Is Sandrena sticky when dry? I mean, if you put trousers on after it's dried, do they kind of cling to where it is....?
