Title: Using valerian root while being on HRT
Post by: Sichoice on May 08, 2024, 06:12:59 PM
Has anyone used or have an opinion on using valerian root alongside HRT?

I have been using gel and taking progesterone tablets, but even though my hot flushes have calmed down, my sleep cycle is still awful. Cannot remember when I last slept through the night. Because of this I’m thinking about taking valerian tablets, but not sure if this is OK.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you ☺️

Hi - I don't know anythig about valerian root either but as far as is given in the product info, the only herbal preparation that is contra-indicated when using oestrogen is St John's wort and then only because it might increase the metabolism of oestrogens - whoich would just mean the oestrogen might be less effective.
