Hi,new to this forum..apologies as I'm having a little trouble navigating things . :-\ I posted earlier wondering if ok just to ask some general advice but I've no doubt posted somewhere totally random.
I'm almost 49,been on hrt for a year. Things fine but some weird and wonderful new symptoms happening,I'm wondering if this signals that I need current hrt tweaking( I have review ntx mnth) or if i have infact finally went mad ;D I can't tell the difference anymore. Any help would be most grateful as I don't even know how this hrt journey actually plays out x

What sort of new symptoms are you experiencing?
-
Hi penguin,thankyou for responding.
So,I'm currently on evorel 50 patch and utrogestan. The uteogestan is fortnightly. Lately terrible joint pain, both shoulders, one practically wouldn't move, slightly better but still very stiff. After much googling it seems to fit with frozen shoulder which is quite common at this time :-\ fingers ,knees, almost feels like my muscles have and tendons have tightened up. Ringing in one ear, driving me mad! Chills, and potentially a hot flash...didn't know whT was happening, thought I was gonna explode with the heat but no sweating. Teary jittery and ofcourse thinking I'm dying everyday. Sorry to go on,feels good to get off my chest. X

I get sore joints when my estrogen is low, but equally I get very achey on the utrogestan part too. Is it better when you are just on the estrogen?
-
I think it's better on the utrogestan ??? I took myself off to out of hours gp,also rib joints burning. She was lovely and out of the blue asked about my cycle, for once I hadn't even considered it was hormones. She said things change and this could be what's happening. My periods are very heavy and the cramp is off the scale. I think I just don't know what to expect,I think I've actually been in denial that it's peri, then I remember what my physical age is and say,get a grip woman, this is it! ;D
-
Sounds to me as if you might benefit from an increase in oestrogen. How much are you on? I've had to increase twice because of returning symptoms as I've produced less of my own.
-
If you were fine before on that dose, then definitely sounds like some kind of shift or drop in hormones.
-
Thankyoubso much for listening to me,I've totally lost plot last few months. So 200 utrogestan and a 50 patch. I sometimes think I'd be better taking the utrogestan daily but I can't because still had period. I wish this was straightforward >:( and I have to ask...the flushes?? Don't know if that's what I was having but the panic..and the heat..omg,on top of everything else I don't think I can cope with them ;) any suggestions on the ringing ear?
-
I should probably add,I've now developed a fear of taking medication. If they do up my hrt I probably won't use it because I,ll be thinking something terrible will happen! I've read so many of you wonderful ladies posts and I know its all so similar, but when your in that moment of madness it's soooo hard! :o
-
The heat and the panic, particularly waking up, was my sign that I needed hrt. I have never successfully increased but as I get close to withdrawal bleed from utrogredtan and my natural estrogen is at its lowest, then I do get a few days of heat back. Sounds like you may benefit from a little increase actually. I use gel not patches, but I've read on here that ladies cut patches so they can increase or decrease the dose by smaller increments. You may find that a less scary way to do it?

Hi, I've had lots of weird joint pains, toes, feet, fingers, elbows.
In terms of "the journey" it does all seem to evolve, today's weird body problem goes away and then a new weird one comes.
In my experience, the panic subsides, definitely easier than 3-4 years ago.
Not sure about the ear, although all canals are affected as they dry out. I had a persistent nasal lining issue that Sea Buckthorn oil seems to have resolved.
Good luck!

I'm genuinely so grateful to you all. At times I say to myself, stop being so bloody ridiculous but then my peri brain is on high alert! I was given propanalol when this all started a year and a half ago for palpitations. I used to take with no problem knowing they helped me alot. Now I wait and wait until the anxiety has practically taken over before I use then..totally irrational! ;D it's so nice to talk to you all..don't feel so alone now. My husband wonderful but I feel like I'm getting on his last nerve :'(

When will it end - if U don't accept the advice to try different doses, U will remain in the dark ::). I didn't like taking The Pill, such a small tablet but I would look at it for hours B4 swallowing it. Still here ::)
As oestrogen levels drop off joints may become lax = aches and pains. Also the body may become dry: inside and out. Deep in the ears, nostrils, scalp, vagina, vulva, eyes ........
Browse round.
Propranolol should be taken every day to keep anxiety levels at bay. It is not an 'as necessary' drug.

Thankyou, your absolutely right,I know. As I say, this has all just crept up within last few months so inclined to think Iaybe just need a bit of a tweak :) it's so funny how this affects us all...I often wonder how women managed way back...bless them x
-
Many didn't - they were shipped off to mental health institutions :'(. Or had 'the vapours' ............
-
The vapours? What was that ???
-
Sudden hot flushes probably, coming over all faint ...... for which smelling salts were offered. Crikey that dates me ;D
-
Oh god no,I'm so sorry...I genuinely havnt heard of that before. :-\ would you mind if I asked what stage your at? I have no clue how this works..do I stay on hrt until its presumed I've reach menapause age..what age is that? For a woman I really have no idea what the hell happens nxt ;D
-
U stay on HRT for as long as you require it. Years ago we were advised to stop all treatments at I think it was 60, but if a regime works, why stop? Many women continue with treatment for ever. The way to find out if 1 is 'out the other side' is to stop HRT, however, if symptoms return ........ once a regime is found to suit, many keep on it.
I have been lucky. Throughout my menstruating years I had heavy, clotty, excruciating periods. Once peri-menopause began: The Change: I knew that periods would lessen and mine certainly waxed and waned. I was aware that women experienced hot flushes, however: any of the other symptoms were never mentioned . Especially anxiety and vaginal atrophy.
Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful. It's natural though can throw up lots of symptoms - ask away.

...or accused of witchcraft, when all they were probably doing was desperately trying to mash some herbs up to help :'(

CLKD thankyou. I know I probably sound ridiculous but I have never been so lost. I've read posts on this forum for a lo.g time now and the advice is invaluable. It took me a while to pluck up the courage to join and now I'm so glad I did :) thankyou for supporting all us newbies who are trying to navigate our way through this,I really can't tell you how much it means x
-
I think many ladies begin to feel lost. Some of course will be raising teens/babies, and/or caring for elderly neighbours or relatives which all adds to the 'not enough me time'.
Do U have hobbies?
-
Hello CLKD :)
Sorry just heading home from work. So hobbies...I love my garden, the weather isn't permitting at moment and found out in November I have herniated disk so had to ease up on things for a while :( I try and potter as much as I can and I'm just back at work so progress. I try and stay positive as many people in worse positions ,what else can we do :-\ x
-
Others are in different situations: we could go on all day about that across the World. This Forum is for us ;-).
I love gardening too, we have a thread somewhere.
-
Oh that's good to know :) my hobby this weekend is to create a fairy garden. If nothing else it will keep me occupied :)
-
With small doors etc.?
Mum used to tell me that others were worse off, still makes me :cuss: :bang: ❗️ ‼️ ........
-
Yes little fairy door, little lights etc. I,ll post a picture if I can when I get finishef :) going by the weather here it's looking more unlikely this weekend! I'm in dumbarton Scotland, where are you? I tell myself there's worse than me but in the midst of an awful period I do feel like I'm the only one..total self pity mode initiated ;D
-
We are entitled to a Pity Party occasionally ;D
Snow expected up North then? Down here in the Midlands, warmer weather with gales 4cast ::)
-
We have rubbish weather all the time, they forecast these storms and ots like oh well more rubbish weather ;D nothing new up here! I do enjoy having a shuffle in the rain though,my husband thinks I'm insane. Always enjoyed being out in the elements :). It's so nice talking here, what a difference ot has made. X
-
