Title: Bleeding
Post by: Shetlandqueen on April 02, 2024, 10:12:24 PM
Hi all
I have been up and down on my Hrt levels for two years I started spotting last March but a hysteroscopy was clear. I was advised to go up to 100evorel and increase from 100 to 200 utrogestan in February .Since  February I haven’t stopped bleeding and having bad cramping so doctor put me on norethisterone which has stopped the bleeding. He said to take it for one month- am I ok to take norethisterone and the utrogestan together?
Thank you

Morning.

Did the GP discuss the possible reason for the bleeding, i.e. the 200 utrogestan rather than 100?  Hopefully some1 who takes this regime will be along with advice.

If worried you could speak to a Pharmacist about using the two products - again, hopefully some1 will be along.

You should be fine taking both together because norethisterone is a POP and is approved to be used alongside utrogestan for contraceptive purposes during peri for people who also want HRT.

However you might also want to consider a Mirena coil to stop the bleeding as it totally stops all bleeding for most women. It replaces the progesterone so you wouldn't also need that unless you wanted the utrogestan for say sleep issues etc.
