Any1 see the News Report last night, made me weary watching them practising ;D
:ola: but oh dear me, those WIGS - surely too American ........ concentrate on below the knees, not what's on the head >:(. Especially the very young dancers.
-
As dancing and festivals normally took place after church on Sundays and curly hair was deemed "appropriate" for church, Irish dancers traditionally wear curly wigs for dancing.
-
:thankyou: they look so inappropriate on young girls though. Did U - Irish Dance? I did tap very slowly ..... a time step always defeated me ;D
-
I'm an admirer but unfortunately have no sense of rhythm and two left feet. ;) ;D That's never stopped me from enjoying a boogie on the dancefloor though!
-
It would be no good relying on my to sew on sequins as I can't thread a needle ;D
-
Me neither, anything I sew just falls apart again! ;D
-
Did u go to the same classes as I did - I made pyjamas for DH in the 1970s, having 'got keen' and bought a 2nd hand sewing machine: after 2 washes they fell apart ;D
The one report comment that I remember is from the needlework teacher: "Her tongue works faster than her needle". She didn't bear a grudge, she made my wedding dress as a gift 8)
-
That's funny ;D I spent a term sewing something up and having to redo it over and over again. Teacher basically gave up on me and left me to my own devices! I take after my mum, her needle never stayed threaded.
-
Whereas my Mum, her sisters and Mum: my paternal family as well as DH's family all knitted, did crochet and smocking.
-
I hated sewing at school and was absolutely rubbish at it, so I used to take whatever project we had to do home and get my grandmother to sew it, then pretend to do the work in class. Always got high marks ;D
-
No remorse there then getting_old ;D
I did ballet from age 8, have never been able to touch my toes! Did a bit of French dancing and tap. Music lessons too. Now I can't read music nor sing .... :-\
