Title: Stopping Desogestrel Contraception and Bleeding
Post by: Mimi12 on February 23, 2024, 03:59:54 PM
I stopped taking the mini pill to see where I was in menopause regarding periods at age 55.  My periods have come back and are heavier than ever. I use Evroel Conti patches for HRT.  I thought the contraceptive pill with it's progesterone might be prolonging my periods as too much progesterone along with the patches but that doesn't seem to be the case...

I would have thought that my periods would be over by now.  Do HRT patches prolonging bleeding?
I'd appreciate your thoughts.  Thank you.

Hi how long have you been using Evorel Conti? And how long since you stopped the mini pill?

Also if you are taking HRT you can't really tell whether the bleeds are natural periods or due to the HRT, and the only way is to stop HRT completely. If the bleeding persists beyond 6 months, you should consult your doc, or if you are concerned before this time.
