Can anybody give me recommendations for a good vaginal moisturiser. I need to use one in absence of using estrogen just for a short time. I know some don't like replens, I've never had a problem with it but it's so messy, all over this morning. I saw Yes but really expensive to buy enough of the little inserts.
-
If U read the VA threads there is lots of advice ......... replens is to avoid.
-
I have. Just get a parameters message, hence the post.

what's a parameters message?

Don't know. It said to check my parameters🤷♀️

Hi Jules,
I use YES with a fair success, but I get mine on prescription. Don't know if that's an option for you?
Also, my own gp recommended using coconut oil. I got some organic stuff from health food shop a bit jar of organic stuff for about £5. It' is solid at room temperature but then the warmth of fingers make it softer to apply. I use this externally rather than internally though. May be worth trying? Others may know if it is ok internally. It feels very kind and no reactions at all. I use it last thing at night so more time to work.

Found YES is good and on prescription
Make sure you get the pre filled tubes not the great big one which isn’t going to go up there 😉
Usually 6in a box

Ok thanks. I use coconut oil externally but as yet there's no research into its safety internally. I will ask for Yes on prescription. There will probably be a big inquest into it though tge way things are at my doctor currently

I used to get the 5ml individual YES applicators on prescription but was refused about a year ago as too expensive and told I can buy them OTC or online. I can still get the 75ml tube on script as it's cheaper, I'm not sure if this came with an applicator though. I've stopped using this now as it started to irritate, nothing wrong with the product it's just me, my body just becomes sensitive to some things I use after a while. Frustrating!

Hi Jules, I use and can recommend the yes products: vaginal moisturiser, also oil based and water based lubricants for sex. I am sorry to hear of your problems at the moment - take good care of and look after yourself - sending some virtual hugs your way
Keep your chin up Mrs :foryou: xx

Thankyou very much. It's been a bad week. I rarely cry but have been. Frustration and despair I think

I use Boots own brand vaginal moisturising gel. It's £10.99 (or 9.99 with advantage card) for 30g. I've always been happy with it.

Thanks Suzy. I will have a look. I used Replens last night and I dont think it has helped

I use Sylk which works for me and I get on prescription.
There were problems with availability last year but that seems to have been resolved now.

Ok thanks. I'm seeing the GP on Monday so I will ask

I forgot to say the Boots stuff has an applicator to use internally. Don't know if that is okay for you. I suppose you could use it externally.
-
My mum was advised to use E45 cream.
-
It's something to use internally I need as I'm having to take a break from the estrogen
-
Oh I see, sorry. I'm not sure then, sorry.
-
Jules, for an internal moisturiser I recommend Balance Activ Moisture Plus pessaries. I seem to think Boots do an 'own brand' version of this as well (bit cheaper) but haven't needed these products for a while so you'd need to check.

Thankyou. I will check those out

My GP wouldn't prescribe anything, dismissed it as there's not a lot available and they advise to buy over the counter!

Hi Jules,
I was recently seen by a Gynae and she advised for very dry skin in the vulva area the best moisturiser is a simple ointment that is very thick, she suggested Epaderm or similar. I have been washing with Hydramol and moisturising on an off with it too, then using the thick stuff at bedtime.
She advised me to stop the Yes products, they are ok for use in the area if there are no challenges but once the dryness is there something less foamy is better

Thanks. It's an internal moisturiser I need. I've only tried replens but it's not that good
