Title: Periods all over the place
Post by: Dawn3129 on February 04, 2024, 09:17:47 AM
My period has always been consistent up until about a year ago. Starter hrt and it helped with my main meno symptoms. Now my period is early, late and this one I'm on day 8 - is this the normal?
Up to date with my smear and no other symptoms.

Morning.  It's The Change - does what it says on the tin.  My periods waxed and waned for several years: regular then a gap of months followed by the odd bleed.

How old are U?

I'm 46. Both my mum and grans went thru menopause by 40. Don't mind not having one but hate when it over stays it's welcome. @CLKD you are an angel on this forum x

If your last one was late, then this is probably the result of a build up.
Happened to me last month, not longer in length in my case but much heavier than usual.

Well, that probably explains the longer one this time. Variation in periods is normal during peri. Your own cycle will be working underneath the hrt one which explains the fluctuations.

Hi, Dawn!

I'm 51 and my periods started fluctuating in cycle time a couple of years ago.   This last year all heck has broken loose!   ;D.

Cycles from 15 - 75 days.   Sometimes with the usual warning signs (sore breasts,, spotting, etc.) and sometimes a complete surprise (thank goodness I work at home!).   Some months are so light it's hardly a period at all and some months it's the heaviest it's ever been.   Some months last 3 days and some months 7 days.

I'm not on oral HRT but recently started vaginal estrogen for VA.

What is helping me is recording all my symptoms (physical and emotional) on my Garmin watch.  The Garmin app then charts all the info.   I'm only a few months into doing this but can already see patterns emerging.

You sound pretty like me! Keeping track on my flow app. Just so frustrated that my Dr doesn't know much about menopause,  no menopause nurse and only forums to connect and get support.
My mental health has been so poor x

Morning Girls.   There are dedicated menopause clinics with waiting lists.  It may be worth while getting onto a list, when the appt is offered if 1 is feeling better, then cancel closer to the time.

R U able to describe your mental health feelings Dawn3129?

If you want to be bleed free you could use a mirena for the progestin part of hrt. I think it's normal for your own cycle to be stronger than the hrt one, mine always was.

Hey I've asked to gey a referral to a menopause clinic in Aberdeen and was told there isn't one. My mental health has been anxiety, hopelessness and feeling I have no purpose x
