Hi … yes I have used this for anxiety ( prior to my hrt ) and I found it really effective! It took a couple of months to properly kick in for me but it definitely worked for my out of control anxiety ( mainly health anxiety ) . I was never aware of any side effects and when I decided to come off it ( gradually) I had no problems. Hope this helps x

Have you got a good plan for how to reduce ond and start another? Tapering very important.
Also, perhaps write a few mantras out to repeat to yourself, like 'I am fine, I am only feeling this way because of my medication' or similar

Hi

I took fluoxetine for many years after the birth of my second child (post natal depression). In all honesty it saved my life and I don't think I'd be here today if I hadn't taken it. No side effects that I can remember. Hope that helps x

Hi,

I too have taken Fluoxetine for many years and recently restarted it and it has helped me again with the awful anxiety symptoms - like one of the other ladies has said can take couple of months to feel full benefit but also been a life saver for me.   I have experienced some side effects when first starting them but worth it just to feel like me again.  Has affected my libido  Good Luck xxxxx

Strange that some ADs need tapering, others can be stopped over night.  Of course, menobrain here can't remember which 1 I could stop at once.   ::)

20 years ago when I had PND I took Fluoxetine. I forgot to pack it when we went on holiday so had to go cold turkey off it. I don't remember any side effects at all.
