I know there has been a lot of advice regarding testosterone doses, and Hurditys hugely informative ongoing thread.
Today I got my first prescription for Trostan 2% gel, it says one pump every day.
Looking at previous posts, many seem to use one pump only three times a week not daily. I would prefer to start on a smaller or less frequent dose to monitor any of the racy feelings some get.
Can anyone advice of best dose and frequency to start with? Thanks

Hi Sarah T,
I think your dosing is an error. Its usually 1 pump every other day (or 3 times a week)
I have been on Tostran for just over a year. I love it!
My experience has been to take a little bit every day as when I took my very first pump at night (as instructed) I felt wired all night.
I have marked appropriately half way on the pump and tried (slightly less than) half a pump a day.
It's kind of guess work for me, but essentially a small blob. Too much and I get a few spots so I just reduce it.
I feel great on T - it didn't do much for my libido, but apart from that I am sharp, rational, have energy and am physically and mentally stronger.
Let us know how you get on x

Banjo thanks for such a positive post. I know testosterone, like many forms of hrt are not for everyone, varies for each individual.
I had a feeling a whole pump every day was too much so glad I checked! I am planning t to take it in the mornings to avoid night time jitters. I will try your way, a smaller dose daily.
I am so bloody hopeful to get positive benefits, I will indeed report back x

Can I ask what positive results you're hoping for?

My prescription is one pump every other day and it's right for me. As a ove, I think one pump a day is an error. Can you let me know if you're able to get it? It's been out of stock so I've been given testogel, I much prefer Tostran.

Hi Sheila,
I was also given testogel when I got my repeat prescription - then only prescribed a months worth... I was annoyed at the time, but actually it was a blessing as I kept on asking at Boots if they had Tostran in and they said they were getting it in regularly (but in small numbers) so I did manage to get Tostran by stalking Boots.
BTW, my new Tostran seems to have less alcohol in it, so no more dry skin.
Good luck Sheila with getting hold of Tostran, it is indeed wonderful stuff!

Banjo I am hoping my vastly depleted libido springs back ( my results showed 0.2 level) and please please some energy and an improvement in my brain fog. Any improvements softness symptoms would be amazing.
Hi Sheila, I had a vert y supportive phone call with a gp who agreed to leave a prescription for testosterone, given the shortages I wasn't sure in what form it would be but it is indeed Trostan.
Strangely I also got my full prescription of Estradot, my first full prescription since August. Very encouraging. Btw, I am in the Herts\Cambs borders of that helps.

Hi Sarah,
I really hope your libido comes back. I've heard of women becoming really randy on testosterone... unfortunately I probably went from 0% to 15% desire - which is an improvement, but still pretty dead! However, in terms of enjoyment, sex no longer feels like a chore!! It's actually really good - no idea why I've still no desire to initiate sex - maybe that's just me.
But I've had loads of other amazing benefits - mentally sharp (no longer having to think for a few seconds to reply to a question) and much more emotionally resilient. Throw in thicker hair, softer skin, great eyelashes and so much more physical strength... I never want to give up Testosterone.
Let us know how you get on x

Hi Ladiies
I'm keen to know if this means that Tostran is back in circulation? I know it was removed - I think due to a dispensing issue with the canister - and I was given an alternate. I found the dispensing of Tostran easy and effective, so I'd be delighted if it's back!

I think it's been back for a few weeks, maybe even a couple of months. New plastic container and and seems to be a less skin irritating formula (just as effective testosterone wise). Boots was the only one that was getting it in (when I was asking).
Good luck x

Hi i got Trostan yesterday from the pharmacy attached to our own own surgery. But I am used to stalking any chemist far and wide after the shortage of Estradot through the whole of last year..
Have decided to start taking it NY day, seems like a prime time to begin. Rather than terrifying my husband I am hoping for a libido improvement rather that the full on randy side. Don't want to scare him too much. ;D
Interesting it can improve hair growth. I lost all the hair on my arms and legs, ( fine by me) but also lost ALL of my eyebrows which affects my self esteem. Use pencils each day but I hate looking in the mirror before I have done them. Hope they may come back? Thought it was a thyroid problem but may be a double whammy of that and stupidly low testosterone.

My independent pharmacy can get Tostran now :) :) :)

I asked at my local Boots and have been told it's back too :-*

I'm pretty sure I will need testosterone but way too exhausted to get to my doctors, long story, but they are very hard to reach anyway, I've been twice for blood tests and the nurse has refused to test for testosterone levels, saying the GP didn't request it, even though the GP had agreed with me each time. And when you're exhausted all the time it's just difficult.
Does anyone know if there is an online pharmacy, like superdrug perhaps, that will provide it if you pass their online medical assessment? I would still get medically checked over, but a quick trial might give the energy I need. Thoughts welcome.

Kara I get how hard it is to fight she you are so exhausted.
I am pretty sure someone posted on here recently that Superdrug will offer Testosterone once a test has been undertaken by them. Worth investigating.
As always I think it can take some time for effects to take place in the body. X

thanks SarahT, at my local superdrug the pharmacist just looked at me and said 'I haven't a clue about that.' And she didn't want to talk about it any further :o yet she might have needed a little help herself ;D I'll go to another one.
