Proper fed up
51 peri but nearly at the end I think had ibs diagnosed in early 40s had ranitidine and endescopy all ok then discontinued so just gaviscon or peptac it’s called.
September ended up on short course lansaprosomole then did another 2 weeks which was prob near
Y couple weeks ago and since then I was allowed to take as and when and call if still not right. So phone call end of next week. I have still had odd bouts of regurgitate feeling so I try to avoid what I know gets me but I’ve had proper bloating and am trying lactose elimination as best as I can and bloating has gone! But I still get the warm feeling in stomach and bit farty,is this still acid do u think and therefore need to take the tablets or is it ibs still? Thank you x

IBS is a blanket diagnosis for "We don't know" ::). However those of us that suffer with IBS either 'quick release' or 'slow transit' for exemple know exactly that we have it.
Often in peri menopause digestive issues are noticeable. As oestrogen levels drop muscles maybe come weak which includes the digestive tract = hiatus hernia and reflux.
When do U take the lansaprosomole? I take 'omeprallo' in the morning other wise symptoms return fast, within 3-4 days >:(.
Milk of magnesia also helps, gaviscon :-X :sick02: :D

Anything with my guts worries me. Think back to what you have eaten in the last 3-5 days. MayB keeping a diary of what you eat and drink might pinpoint potential problems. everything ;)
Since I stopped eating shop bought cakes and yoghurts my guts have been less bloated and I'm no longer aware of them 'working'. I've changed to brown bread toast and Marmite for breakfast after eating muesli for a few years. Digestion doesn't seem to have noticed that ::).
I have blamed the empty calories, additives etc. in shop bought stuff. Fortunately I can still eat chocolate ;-).
Occasionally my bowel is slow to empty, yesterday it took ages to pass anything ::) which was 'normal' once out. My bowel really feels empty so I have to tick the calendar.

I agree,IBS is an easy diagnosis, I was told in my late 20s that's what I had and many moons later after doing a private test,I'm actually wheat intolerant.
Clkd is right, try a food diary,as we age,we seem not to be able to eat the things we did when we were younger,I just need to look at a tomato and I get awful reflux

I've just had a dietician appointment to help manage my digestive difficulties. She talked more about how I eat and drink than what I eat and drink but I have Barratts caused by acid reflux as well as IBS. We think ibuprofen caused the bad acid then reflux. I take omeprazole daily and have to forever now. I used to take it at night till I read on here it's better during the day. I stopped drinking alcohol when I was diagnosed and she said its the biggest single thing I could have done to help as alcohol is a relaxant and relaxes the sphincter so stomach acid can splash back up. She said peppermint does the same. Also foods with fat slow the system down and hang around in the stomach longer. Digestive problems are the scurge of modern life, I know so many with it of all ages. it's stress, refined and fatty foods, too much food, not enough fibre to move it through and out!

So update…..
H pylori negative on poo sample
Been taking lanzoprozole for abut 3 weeks gp call tomorrow.
Have tested lactose elimination for month as bloated after milk @nd cheese that’s stopped but now last week or so am really windy and bloated feels ibs type for poo mix of bit constipated or normal and yesterday was like got go now and went few times but obviously cleared system sorry tmi.
Question is what now? Fed up with it dragging on and wondering if gluten intolerance, worse ibs, crohns as my son has it, or something not good, not helping health anxiety either.
Camera is most likely next with grab for tests if h pylori was what I was told last time, any ideas please.
Happy new year to all of you x

Forgot to add gurgly too

A gastroscopy test or and colonoscopy would probably tell you and eliminate things. I don't know your age but I'm sure that will be next if its been going on a while. Presumably you've no red flag symptoms eg weight loss, bleeding, problems swallowing?

Anxiety has a direct effect on your digestive system so is probably making things worse. Maybe try some relaxation
-
Ok thanks

Forgot to say recently started Evorel sequi has given headaches and think maybe connected to bloating wind etc as it does say gastric problems on it
-
When I started estrogel (and whenever I have tried to increase it) I got upper tummy bloating, wind, indigestion etc.

Could be gluten intolerance, this was me a few years back, did a private test and wheat had 5 red x next to it,cut it out and symptoms went. Colonoscopy picked up diverticulitis which can cause many of your symptoms also. It really is a case of elimination when it comes to the gut but I'd push for a colonoscopy or a Ct colonography (much less intrusive)

Will see what gp says today.but yes agree more tests needed. Interesting that I took patch off yesterday during day and not feeling quite so rubbish in guts not bloating or windy bit gurgly but it’s breakfast time . Where did you get your intolerance tests from was it online or local please?

I paid for a dietician appointment recently. I found that helpful but I already have a diagnosis so it was management advice for that

It was private but recommended by an nhs allergy specialist,as they can only test for allergies and not intolerances, cerascreen was the company x

I was diagnosed with IBS aged 17, it keeps me thin is my only consolation. I'm 54 now and not got any real help with it ever.
As you're at the start of your IBS journey, you probably are full of hope and faith in the health services. I'd advise you to curb your expectations, not because you don't need help, but I don't think the NHS will help you. IBS is a diagnosis given mostly to women because they don't know much, all clinical studies used to be exclusively on males until the 1980s or 90s, so how women's often delicate digestion is disrupted by hormones is understudied to say the least. Hence the IBS which stands for "I don't know" to my dyslexic eyes.
Tests showed erosions in my oesophagus and stomach lining but no ulcer the day they looked, which was four months after I collapsed for 3 days on holiday with the pain from a suspected ulcer. Colonoscopy was excruciatingly painful, they pump litres of air into you regardless of your own small size, but with normal results. I've two benign tumours on my liver and one on my adrenal gland, just observations as they search, I've probable intermittent paralysis of the middle section of my gut. That means no constipation or diarrhoea 95% of the time, just pain and more pain.
All I've ever got to help after the array of tests that show nothing wrong, is omeprazole. I don't take it because it makes me feel sick and I already feel sick a lot.
I consulted a private dietician who told me to stop following the GP's advice of eating so much fibre. She said my diet contained far too much fibre (I'd been told to increase it many times and had done so each time) and even someone with no underlying problems wouldn't handle that much fibre! She took me through a three month elimination diet which basically showed I react to food. Less food means less pain, more food means more pain. Eating wheat once is ok, eating wheat once a day all week will be bad and I'll have a lot of bloaty pain. Cheese and butter are ok in limited amounts, milk or cream are bad. Nuts sometimes give me allergic reactions, so I can't eat those. Foods like tomatoes, potatoes or oranges make me itch if the juice touches my skin but I eat them anyway. I've got to eat something. Some days all I have is some fruit. Fruit seems ok for me, broccoli rice and carrots are ok too, but I must keep changing what I eat or it will cause problems, with limited choice it's hard to do and I've the rest of my family to cook for as well.
Like I said, it keeps me thin, but the medics haven't been much help at all. I stopped going back for their tests ten years ago and got no better and no worse since. The tests were not designed to find women's problems so not surprisingly they don't.
