Title: Utrogestan low mood
Post by: L30yng on November 26, 2023, 12:54:21 PM
Hi. I feel great on estrogen patches for 14days. Take utrogestan for 12 days. I am taking it orally and the PMS like symptoms are not sustainable. Being so weepy, not sleeping, overwhelmed and irritated. Any ideas? Would taking it vaginally help? Is there an alternative? Thanks for any ideas.

Hello

I am not on utrogestan, I didn't tell it suited me, but many on here so use it for their progesterone.  There are several threads about utrogestan, and taking it vaginally. Maybe use the search function to have a look at others experiences. It can take quite a while for any hrt to settle. I definitely felt worse when starting her before I felt better.
Hope someone with utrogestan experience can help further. Take care

Hi.  I am afraid that I don't have any advice but I share your situation and am keen to see what others say.  I am peri and have been on Oestrogel (3 pumps) and 12 days on/off of Utrogestan for nearly 9 months.  I feel worse rather than better (brain fog, inability to focus, low mood a lot of the time................) and have a review with my Dr this week.  I started to keep a record because on the 12 days of Utrogestan, I feel really quite depressed and have disturbingly vivid dreams which wake me.  Then lack of sleep makes me feel worse..........................

Fingers crossed for improvement for us all

My Dr has suggested that I try a mirena coil and continue with the gel in order to end the utrogestan impact (depression and distressing dreams).  We will then monitor and adjust.  I'll start this soon and and let you know.  Fingers crossed. xx

I take Utrogestan and for the first month ok. Second month depressed. Third month onwards about 7-8 days in I feel like dying. Really unbalanced thoughts, severe paranoia and terrible time with this closet to me. Really awful. I have been taking it vaginally and it is better although messy but it does alleviate some of those awful feelings. I have also reduced the days I take it. As long as there is a good bleed there I am not too concerned about the lining building up.
