Title: HRT review
Post by: Scottish lass on November 15, 2023, 07:42:36 AM
I am due a review with GP this week as I have been on my htr patches for a year. I don't know if it has made any difference tbh as my main symptoms where brain fog, insomnia and TOTAL lack of motivation to do anything and these symptoms seemed to resolve by coming off long-term citalopram and a 6 week course iron as my levels where in my boots. My new issue which I have had for the last 3 weeks is what feels like a UTI which comes and goes. I have never had issues like this before and it is totally messing with my head it is disturbing my sleep my work and sanity. I know 3 weeks is no time but it seems like forever.

UTI - probably vaginal atrophy.  Urine infection-type symptoms can mimic vaginal atrophy really really well.  Ask your GP/Nurse Practitioner for appropriate treatment, U don't need an exam or blood tests.   Nor can 1 'overdose' on oestrogen.

Which patches have you been prescribed and is this your first review regarding the regime?  Make a list of worries to take with you.  Let us know how you get on.

Who is supervising your HRT regime?

That's sad that you considered that your husband was unfaithful  :'(

Why were you prescribed an anti-depressant, was it suggested instead of HRT?  Some GPs still think that's the 'right' way to go  ::)

I was given 3 month trial then as no side effects was given a years prescription. I have only made an appointment as my year is nearly up. My antidepressant was because of a family crisis that I didn't cope well with and I just kept getting the tablets with no review so just stayed on them. Sounds pathetic but I was almost too scared to stop even though they made me feel numb.
Reading this back I sound totally pathetic.....

So outcome from today.
Basis external exam, to provide urine sample for lab test, thrush, BV and sti testing + estrogen pessaries. A bit embarrassing to discuss issues and feelings but just got to be a grown up and hopefully more me soon.
