How can I find out if/where there is a Menopause Clinic near to me?
Many thanks x

U could also look at your Surgery websites in the area to see if any have GPs that are interested in womens health. Ours has a menopause GP but she's keeping it very quiet ;) I now because a friend has been under her care, the GP has been to the Newson Clinic on a 'course'.
Is it anything that we can help with in the mean time?

Aww bless clkd x you have been so helpful so far - I really do appreciate it x
Basically I am 55 and have just about coped with peri & now meno before the worst of it all has happened to me - vaginal dryness - which I am using ovestin for and hopefully will solve/at least improve for me.
I have a prescription for evorel conti but I am sure about using them due to all the bleeding stories etc I hear. My worst symptoms are now - low mood, low energy and no libido and I am wondering if using the patches would even help at all? On another thread someone had mentioned tibolone which I was wondering may help me with my symptoms or not? x

Basically, I am unsure as to whether or not to start HRT. And wondering if I did, if the evorel conti patches or tibolone would be better for my symptoms: low mood, low energy and no libido x

If taking HRT probably wouldn't improve my symptoms? then I probably won't start taking it

I would expect hrt to help but if it doesn't you can always stop. Most people are OK on the first one they try, you get a biased view on here because we tend to be the ones who have problems. For many people libido returns with oestrogen but others need testosterone too which can be added later if you use evorel. Tibolone contains something that acts like testosterone so should help with libido. I think (not certain) that you should stop tibolone at 60 so you may find you have to change again later.

Sorry if I've missed something, R U having natural periods? If so you are peri-menopause. The last bleed = menopause but it can be 12-14 months B4 we realise it's all done!
If you have atrophy with no other symptoms, appropriate localised treatments are useful in easing soreness, the need to P more often etc.. Why did the GP suggest Evorel Conti ..... it's late, I'm confused ;D

Hi CLKD
I am 55 and post meno by 2 years. I thought menopause was 12 months after last period? but funny enough I had been period free for 12 months, then on month 13 had a little spotting and nothing since and that was over a year ago (I think it must just have been the last of my hormones) GP did internal and said all seemed fine.
-
Is that what you mean by menopause being between 12-14 months?
Sorry I don't know how to add this on to my above post
-
Hi fiftyplus. I think CLKD means that it could be a couple of months after what was our last period before we actually realise that it really was the last one.
Taz x :)

Fifty plus, if you have a prescription for Evoral conti then why not give it a try and see if you feel an improvement in your symptoms? No need to be worried, just see how you get on. Hopefully it will suit you but if not you can always try something else. Sometimes it's trial and error before we get it right!
