I am so confused and struggling with decisions. Sorry for the long post.
I went in HRT about 15 months ago - why - to be honest the Davina effect ! Everyone at work was on it and although I cannot say I was experiencing many symptoms the dr put me on it 50mg patch and a100mg ball that I take at night !
I cannot say I felt any different so at 6 month review she upped it to a 100gm patch and by golly I felt different. I was waking at night in floods of tears totally exhausted and started having breakthrough bleeding ( no period for 5 years) , ended up having a colonoscopy which showed thickening of womb and went immediately back to 50mg.
I have put on weight , struggle to lose it and am exceptionally over sensitive to things. I cry at the drop of a hat and literally over analysis everything.
Please help me before I end up with no friends, I have no mojo and am picking fights !
The weight issue is getting to me as well and I feel like I’m just about to start a period Ie bloated and dragging pains.
I look a mess as cannot be bothered to put make up on etc .
Do I up the hrt , go off it altogether or what. Dr seems to not be much help and offered anti depressants
Thank you for reading

Do U need HRT? Which symptom did you want to ease first? From 50 to 100mg is a huge jump all at once!
It's not a cure. If the body doesn't require any replacement then treatment may overwhelm the usual hormonal fluctuations.
How have your periods behaved in the last 4 years? Mine waxed and waned for ages: some regular, others disappeared for months B4 returning to a pattern. Then hey ho! gone!
Some find that keeping a mood/symptom/food diary of use to chart progress.

This is exactly what happened to me I don't think I needed it and it made me feel awful so after 8 weeks of feeling like death dizzy, sick, increased anxiety, stomach issues spasms and reflux, loss of appetite so I stopped it. I'm still not feeling myself but I guess it will take time for hormones to re balance again. I'm only a week and a half off it but do think there's been a slight improvement I certain get hungry now which I didn't b4

My periods stopped completely about 4 years ago, they just got lighter and lighter then stopped.
Now I feel like I’m about to start again. That’s very true what you say about do I need hrt , I honestly can say I had no symptoms except for not sleeping but that hasn’t improved . The big jump surprised work friends who literally seem to be on every hormone going as they go to private doctors and take everything going.
The weight issue and anxiety is really an issue with me as today I was anxious doing everyday things and a friend mentioned how on edge I seemed.
If I came off hrt how do I do this ?

Under supervision from your prescribing medic.
Then let your body recalibrate as much as it can with hormonal upheavals. Anxiety can be caused by the 'wrong' HRT. Too much, too little, wrong regime. Give your body a rest?

Do you think cold turkey as I’m only on 50gm is ok as it’s so hard to get an appointment with my go

MayB put the product name into the search box to see if any threads pop up? It shouldn't be difficult to get an appt with any GP or Nurse Practitioner, most surgeries are 'open for business' Matt Hancock said so >:(. When I want an appt I take my calendar to the desk and get an appropriate appt.. I was asked if it was an urgent issue or could it wait, which took 2.5 weeks to see our GP.

Your doc sounds a bit quick on the draw whacking you up to 100 mcg patches. Wow. I'd come off it slowly over a period of at least three months, slowly reducing the estrogen dose by trimming the patches (keep the progesterone up right until the end).. cut off a sliver more each month till you're down to maybe half i.e. 25 mcg. and maybe then stop alltogether... see how you feel as you go. I don't think cold turkey is a good option for HRT, though I understand the desire to do that. ALL that said, I'm not a doc...!!!!

No don't do it cold turkey. I did that on Wednesday last week (on gel not patch) amd had the worst night ever last night, I was hoping any symptoms would come back gradually but my body really doesn't seem to like the sudden change. I'm trying to decide today what to do next but really tempted to whack some gel on to get me through the day.

It totally shocked me when she doubled it, even with my limited knowledge I was surprised then the next minute I was in hospital bleeding and having this hysteroscopy by general anethestic !
I never realised that there was such a thing as having too much hormones so your right maybe I don’t need HRT ?

It does sound as if you don't need to be on HRT at the moment. You could always start again at a later date as your oestrogen levels drop further. I'm not sure how old you are?
I have stopped HRT by both slow withdrawal and the next time just by cold turkey. Both end results were the same in that it took three months for my symptoms to come back. I think that if you stop abruptly during peri meno this can cause problems with adjusting but post meno I didn't find this. You will probably experience a withdrawal bleed though so be prepared for that.

Tax would that be the same for me do you think, in peri and stopped at the end of the utrogestan phase when my regular bleed started?

Hi Penguin. In what way the same?

As in am I likely to get a withdrawal bleed from stopping the estrogel?
-
Withdrawal bleeds are caused by stopping the progesterone. What progesterone are you using?

Oh I should be okay then. Took last dose of utrogestan on Wednesday, withdrawal bleed started on Thursday and I don't plan on taking it again until I have had a break and a reset.

Thanks so much, I’m 54 with no period since 50.
Today someone commented on my mojo / anxiety so to speak and said it was noticeable this weekend as well.
I can literally cry at the drop of a hat

Have a good cry? Nature wouldn't have given us feelings if she hadn't wanted us to cry. I am unable to cry ......... :-\
