Hi ladies
I’m planning on stocking up on some fiction for the winter. Can anyone recommend any novels that aren’t sad, scary or romantic? Just a nice story about human connection. My favourite novels are ‘The Lido,’ ‘We are all made of glue’ and ‘the lubetkin legacy,’ Has anyone read them?

My favourite writers for fairly meaty buy non-challenging reads are:
Victoria Hislip
Kate Moreton
Katherine Webb
Rachel Hore
I am trying to stock up on some of their books for my winter hol to the sun.

Anne Tyler

Lyrebird, by Ceceilia Ahern was a beautiful read. But anything by Jodi Elen Malpas works everytime for me

Thanks ladies I will have a look on Amazon for some of those.

I am a fan of detective/thriller reads and I love JD Kirk's DCI Logan books. Although there is the dark side to them there is also the hilarious Scottish humour side that is so uplifting and has me laughing out loud in bed when I do most of my reading. A wonderful set of characters and if you don't mind the odd swear words I would highly recommend them.

This one isn't fiction but its a really good read. The Salt Path by Raynor Winn xxx

Thanks for your recommendations, I will definitely be looking for those.
Did anyone else read Enid Blyton books as a child? They were the best thing ever.

Yep. Secret 7 and Famous 5. We have several book threads here, I'll bump some.

Rag, Tag, Bobtail - from the TV series though I have no recollection of that. It was a pop-up book which probably lurks in the chest in the attic.
