Please can anyone advise me as to how many Clotrimazole Pessaries will treat severe Glabrata Thrush. This strain has been identified at the local gum clinic. Can’t get Nystatin Pessaries from the clinic or hospital. Senior nurse said Clotrimazole Pessaries were equally as effective. I have used two Clotrimazole 500mg Pessaries, one last Tuesday followed by one last Saturday. Yes, I have improved but last night ached, probably from the die off period. The nurse at the clinic said this was a possibility. Aching is less prevalent now, so maybe treatment is working. I contacted my surgery this morning asking if symptoms should have gone by now and were 2 Pessaries enough? GP advised me to contact the gum clinic which I did and a lovely senior nurse said as the dr had prescribed the Pessaries she would have to advise on quantity and should know. Why is it so difficult to get a straight forward answer. All the advice given on this site are greatly appreciated.

Just wondered if you had read this thread where the OP seems to have obtained Nystatin pessaries from a GUM clinic. Could that clinic help you obtain them do you think ?

Minusminnie, tried obtaining Nystatin from the gum clinic apparently, they can’t get them. Probably, depends on which area you live. Thanks for posting the link though.

Have you tried any of the online pharmacies? They might source from further afield.

Just looked it up and the clinics appear to come under the individual Trusts. For bleep bleep Midnight Shadow.
