Title: Utrogestan 100mg
Post by: Rufus657 on October 23, 2023, 09:48:35 AM
Hi all. Advice please. I’m 66 and  I’m on Evorel 25 patch with  Utrogestan 200mg tabs.

I have always bled on anything else but fine so far since I started in June.

I started with 100mg Utro orally but  felt ill so am now taking 100mg vaginally .

All has  been well until recent annoying itching over head and neck and abdomen and the night sweats have started

What shall I do ? Shall I up the Utro dose to 200mg vaginally. Is that ok? Will that help all this. 🙏

If you are having night sweats you could possibly need more estrogen now rather than progesterone.

Also utrogestan, I have found out recently, is thermogenic. I only take it for 12 days per month but massively overheat 24/7 on those days. Not sure how increasing utrogestan would help at all tbh.

Penguin that's really interesting as I tried utrogestan and started with night sweats where I had none prior

hi itching and night sweats are usually signs that your oestrogen is too low. x

Thanks  all, that’s helpful.

So I could  add a pump of oestrogen as I can’t see a doctor quickly. I do have oestrogel at hand that I could use. 🤔

You could but if you are sensitive to fluctuations, I'd do half a pump and then increase to a whole pump. Or could you add half a patch?

Either way, just make one change at a time so you can see what it working/ not working.

Thanks Penguin I’ll  try this.

Just one other thought.
Another single step to consider away from the oestrogen increase.

Should I opt to up the Utro dose or keep it the same ..

or do you think the issue is all oestrogen related.

Sorry but my head is blown with the whole thing. I’m about to throw in towel and live with the joint pain , dryness , low mood and everything else that we have to put up with.  😞

I would keep it the same for now. It's best to change one thing at once so you what causes any change in symptoms. 100mg every day is normally enough for up to 4 pumps oestrogel though if you are prone to bleeding you might find you require more.

Hi Rufus

I agree only change one thing and it is most likely to be due to needing more oestrogen. 25 mcg is a very low dose.
