I am 47 in peri and have been on HRT for just over a year (evorel 50 patch plus utrogestan 100mg over 25 days). I have just been to the hospital due to frequent bleeding and cramping pain which has been getting worse over the last few months.
They've found a polyp, size 8mm. I also have small ovarian cysts but they don't think they need treatment.
We tried to remove the polyp with a hysteroscopy using gas and air but I was moving too much for the doctor to get through the cervix. It's tight as I've had no children. So I'm waiting for a general anaesthetic appointment.
I am posting here as I would like to know if anyone else on here had cramping caused by a polyp. It's not a common symptom apparently and they were unable to find any "obvious cause" to the pain, which I have most days and is severe on days with heavier bleeding and on the days I'm not taking utrogestan.
For now, they've given me the mini pill to increase progesterone and see if that helps .

Did they not suggest pain relief? I found that femonax ? was really helpful as I suffered excruciating pain every month :'( . Might be worth a try. :bighug:

They've given me co-codamol for now but the pain / cramping is there most days now, as is bleeding and they couldn't say for sure that the pain was because of the polyp as that is not a common symptom of polyps. When it's severe, it wakes me up and I still feel it even after taking the painkillers.
I previouly had mefenamic acid but those were no longer working.
I'm worried about the pain potentially never going away if it's not the polyp causing it, so I was hoping to find someone on here who'd been through something similar with polyps.

Good luck with the co-codamol, I can't stomach anything with 'co' involved ::)
Hopefully someone will be along soon.
Could it be a fibroid involved which are known to bleed as hormones rise and fall.

Hi - I had a pelvic and a transvaginal scan at the hsopital on Monday. They said there were no fibroids, just one 8mm polyp and small ovarian cysts.
I've been taking the progesterone mini pill too since they prescribed it on Monday. Not sure how long that will take to have an effect but they're trying to add that in case my utrogestran isn't giving me enough progesterone to prevent the pain.
