I've been prescribed Evorel Sequi patches and am due to start them today, but worried about short-term side effects as I'm taking the kids away on holiday next week and don't want to ruin it for them by feeling unwell.
Not sure if I should I wait till next month to start the patches or just go for it today. If I do start to get side effects should I just take the patch off or keep going?
Symptoms I was prescribed HRT for are hormonal migraine, insomnia, night sweats, pelvic pain, recurrent UTIs, mood problems, joint pain, brain fog... probably a few others I can't remember just now! So I'm quite keen to get started on the HRT to find out if it might help with all that, but really nervous about potentially making things worse.

Hi.
I'm no HRT expert and do not currently use it so I'm sure there are others better qualified than me to advise you.
But, if it was me, I'd personally wait till I got home. A few more days wait won't harm and then you won't be fretting all holiday about possible side effects or micro analysing any little symptom you feel....which will make you anxious...and distract from the enjoyment of the break.
I'd just enjoy the holiday best you can......
Then start when you're home. I hope you find it helpful when you do start.
A friend of mine was in this exact position a few weeks ago. She decided to wait till she got home to start and all was well.
Just my 2 penneth.
I hope you have a nice time x

I would also wait.
We have a holiday thread here ;-).
Enjoy. Some find that keeping a mood/food/symtpom diary of use to chart progress.

Hi Cocoa Peach
:welcomemm:
If you feel you are able to enjoy the holiday without starting the HRT then I agree with Dorothy Gale - wait until you get home!
The side effects may well be determined by where you are in menopause ie what your natural cycles are doing now in terms if frequency and flow, how irregular they are. The good news is that with Evorel sequi you will start on the oestrogen only part of the patch and therefore should feel the benefits of additional oestrogen very quickly in terms of night sweats.
I presume you have been advised to start yesterday because it was Day 1 of your bleed?
Enjoy your holiday anyway!
Hurdity x

Usually if you have problems it's with the conti patches not the oestrogen only ones so if you're back home before you start them personally I'd start now. I was the opposite though - desperate to start them and feel better but waited ages for a bleed.
