I've been taking testosterone for a few weeks. I've always had sleep issues (well, since peri, I'm now post menopause), but I had a good run of it for a while.
Now, it's awful. I wake and can't get back to sleep for hours.
I wondered whether it was the testosterone? I'm only taking the rec dose in am, but I wondered if it was disrupting my sleep somehow, or just a coincidence.
Thanks
J

My understanding is it's supposed to help with sleep unless as you say you are indeed now taking more than you need. Do you feel over stimulated? If so maybe try scaling it back slightly. Although usually that's when you can't actually fall asleep at all. If you get to sleep ok and then wake up it could be too little oestrogen.

Hi noheroicsplease
Sorry to hear about your sleep issues.
I've used T since May 2015 and my sleep now is better than it's ever been but that coud be due to other metabolic changes as I age.
What product do you use and what dose? I never experienced any side effects from T but I've only ever used 1% gel and a small pea-sized blob - (now down to 5 days a week as I thought I should start reducing it).
Also I think it important to keep up the exercise when using T because it is involved in maintaining muscle mass - but not sure how that would affect sleep. If I recall correctly you take quite a lot of exercise anyway?
Gnatty - I have just read the same that low levels of T in women may be associated with sleep problems . "Research shows lower levels of testosterone are linked to an increased wake time after sleep onset — or in non-science speak, more time awake during the night after you’ve initially fallen asleep."
https://www.risescience.com/blog/testosterone-and-sleep (and there is a link to a study which I haven't read).
I would agree with Gnatty that if your dose is too high maybe you are being overstimulated?
