Title: Question about evoral conti
Post by: Katymac on October 09, 2023, 07:47:05 PM
I had my ovaries out and have struggled getting hrt right

A private consultant suggested evoral 75 plus norethisterone which is much better but I am struggling with the norethisterone my brain fog and taking tablets don't like each other!

Is there any reason 1 and a half evoral conti patches would be wrong?

Hi Katymac

Your post got missed.

Have you tried other types of progestogen? Unfortunately the norethisterone available in tablet form (I think 5 mg) is a MUCH higher dose than given in the patches ( maximum 1 mg norethisterone per day) which could be why you are struggling. Maybe a better option would be MPA - Provera https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/to_progestogens.php. Don't be put off that the dose is 10 mg because it is not comparable with norethisterone - but is available at the right dose for HRT, rather than 5 x higher if you see what I mean?

Other options include the mirena coil which delivers most of the progestogen locally to the womb and less systemic absoprtion than with tablets.

I dont fancy a coil, I've got a bladder repair and think  the less that is interfered with down  there the better

My repair is 20 years old this year & its supposed to have a 10 year lifespan!

I may go back to just the evoral conti at least I don't have to remember a tablet even if it's less of everything

Testosterone is pretty good too and brain fog much better than previously
