Title: What causes short cycles?
Post by: RosieRay on September 27, 2023, 11:21:46 AM
I am 8 years peri and now having a full period every 14 days which lasts for 7 days.

I am on 100 estradot and 100 utrogestan daily. I cannot take sequential regimes because I get migraine when the progesterone drops. But I also cannot carry on like this.

Is it the progesterone that causes short cycles or is it oestrogen? Clearly something is dropping if I'm getting such regular bleeds. I am thinking of trying the coil.

Hi RosieRay,

I don't have the answer I'm afraid, but I'm interested in this too. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

Hi Rosieray

I don't have the answer either but I'm also interested in this. My gp has just prescribed 100mg oestrogen patches and 100mg utrogestan daily, I am currently on sequential (75 & 200mg for 12 days) but having a lot of breakthrough bleeding. I'm worried a continuous regime will make it worse.

Thank you both. It’s really frustrating as my cycles are getting shorter and shorter. This month 13 days - my period has come today and the last one only finished on Sunday !

I've just had the mirena coil put in yesterday to try to stop my cycles as I am so tired of them. Friends kept recommending it so thought I'd give it a try.
