The Government and DEFRA are going to back themselves into a corner on this 1 unless everyone gets this type of dogs 'breed' correct. The Press and Sunak are continually calling them XL bullies ......... so any1 can get round registering etc. by explaining that they don't own a bully XL.
>:(. governments seem keen to jump on the bandwagon, they did around the DDA during an election year :-\ :'(
I wonder how many years registration will take ? Hopefully breeding will be banned from 2024 so this type dies out naturally. I can't see it stopping backstreet breeders though :-\ >:(

I've always said, from the early 1970s, that every person who gets a puppy should legally be required to attend a 10 week course to socialise and begin training: because training never stops. That way any niggles can be sorted, advice can be shared and it's great to meet different breeds. My dog became totally bored by the classes ;D : I wasn't going to use treats but it worked ;-) - the next week, the other owners in the class had some ......
There should be a dedicated new Dept in all LA buildings to deal with dog training etc., well separate from DEFRA, RSPCA, Planning Dept etc.. Somewhere that Vets can refer owners who have queries that are not health related so that the different groups work together.

Does this mean that they will have to be muzzled all of the time?

take actions including a muzzle in public.. Nothing is written in Law yet, this applied to other pit-bull types under the initial DDA.
Another grey area. Under the UK Guns Laws and Dangerous Dogs Act., any premises can be seen as a 'public place'. Which is how the Police took Dempsey away under the 1st DDA. He was in the owner's car, parked in a Motorway Car Park [I think - I couldn't open the link yesterday]. :'(. Sitting. In a Car. Which became a 'public place'.
So in theory ..... however I think if genuine owners register, neuter and muzzle in public, well behaved bullies will be OK. This is going to take a lot of discussion and Ministers and the RSPCA need to talk to every owner.
Of course, it isn't a breed ......... these are a mix of at least 4 other large types.
How R your neighbours feeling? Do they take theirs out and about? I really worry about genuine owners being caught up in a witch hunt :'( :-\
I believe that every owner of any type of dog/s should have to register with the LA. Mine was a registered PAT-dog through the Pro-dogs Charity. Assistance dogs of course are registered with appropriate charities.

My neighbours are heartbroken. They do walk him and they stop off at our house for a doggy treat. They are worried about walking him now due to the publics view of the breed. He is the most beautiful dog and is really loved by the children and their three cats. They are still in shock but pleased to know that no culling will take place.

I wouldn't go out and about with him for a while. Not inviting problems with others that might kick off.
MayB they could see if there are any secure 'dog parks' in the area? Where he could be let off to run.
