Title: Have any of you ladies been on HRT but then went o to bio identical HRT ??
Post by: Nick34 on September 07, 2023, 01:16:10 PM
Just wondering ladies

I’m 66 and I’m on antidepressants
For last 2 years I particularly I have had more bouts of feeling flat, no interest and panic that seem to be having the odd days free off.
I dont want to up venlafaxine as I’m on 225mg and don’t know why I still take it if I feel like this (I’d never just stop)

So I’ve been reading at bio identical hrt
It says it’s much more like your own hormones ? And not as many side effects

As I’ve always had mh issues from my
20’s on/off I e become scared off that feeling of not being yourself and medication scares me of the side effects it gives you. I’d be off venlafaxine tomorrow if it didn’t give you such horrible side effect coming off.

So is anyone taking bio identical hrt that as tried nhs HRT and found it much better
Done the job and you feel much better in yourself??

If the AD works, stick with it as you don't know how you will feel when not taking it.  It took me 9 weeks to stop that particular AD with tapered alternate days, also the GP had access to smaller doses than are prescribed.  Once I realised that the side effects didn't last more than 24 hours and didn't last during that time, I relaxed.  My brain stopped saying 'what if you have to go back on this because you can't tolerate the side effects?'

Which symptom would you like to ease first?

I think that the various types of HRT prescribed on the NHS include bio identical?
