Hi ladies
Is it ever possible to manage atrophy & soreness with systemic HRT alone?

I think some members seem to be okay with using systemic HRT for their VA but perhaps not if the VA is severe. I know it is not enough for me and I need Ovestin.
I understand you are reacting each time you try localised oestrogen. :(

Hello Hopeful2
I am on systemic HRT and I don't need anything for atrophy. I am post meno by a long way and my regime is one 1mcg sachet of Sandrena gel daily and half a 200 mcg Cyclogest pessary on alternate nights.
I did notice vaginal dryness creeping in when I used a quarter of a sachet and also half a sachet.
The only time I used topical treatments was when I came off all HRT a few years ago. At that time I managed with moisturisers but I didn't need them when I resumed systemic treatment.
I hope this helps you and take care.
K.

Thank you both for your kind replies.

I'm on local estrogens and a few years ago tried HRT patches hoping for an improvement as I was struggling with atrophy. I tried the patches for 6 months but to be honest I didn't get any more relief and as I didn't have any other meno symptoms I stopped using them. I upped my Vagifem and also started using Ovestin as well and that helped.
Some need both as systemic don't always do it.
