Sorry if this is a dumb question and I have asked this before but I don't seem to be able to get it right in my head.
I've been on 3 pumps of oestrogel since January I think, I got my estrogen blood levels checked in March and they were 288, then I got them checked last week and they 448.
I know you're meant to go off symptoms, but symptom wise I feel okay actually at the minute, however all I wanted to know was, if I continue to stay on 3 pumps of gel will my blood estrogen level just keep rising?
If not, I don't understand how it sort of stops and levels out, if anyone gets my drift?
Thanks and sorry for the rambling x

Hi no they don’t keep rising because every day your body uses some and so you keep topping it up by applying the gel every day . Your levels should stay the same if you stay on 3 pumps unless your own levels drop.

You must get so cross with me Dotty, I know I've asked this many times.
I'll blame on brain fog!!
I understand so every day I use the estrogen so the gel I use is just replenishing what I use. Therefore as some women are on lower/higher doses of estrogen some must use more estrogen everyday and some less?
Sorry I know I sound thick xxx

Hi I don’t get cross at all. I know it’s all so confusing and I like to understand things too.
I think I’ve used the filling a bucket analogy before …. Your bucket was empty of oestrogen and you needed to fill it . So the gel filled it a bit every day until one day it was full and your symptoms went. But every day your body uses a bit so you need to keep topping it up. Don’t think you need to worry about different ladies using different amounts. We’re all different xx

thanks Dotty, you're very patient and sorry x

Brain fog affects me a lot :-\. MayB keep a mood/food/symptom diary to jog your mind? Sometimes trawling through threads is too much for my addled brain :-\

Discogirl….does that make sense ? help you ? xx

It does make sense, thank you so much
I don't know why I was having problems, but the using the estrogen and then replenishing it makes sense.
Thanks so much Dotty xxx

Disco I keep forgetting things too don’t worry, I think it’s common in menopause. I too also like to understand how things work in the body.
Dotty I love your bucket analogy!
I was just thinking today I’ve been on here a lot today and it just feels like such a lovely supportive community and I’m so glad I’m part of it.
