Title: Transvaginal ultrasound
Post by: Birdwatcher on August 02, 2023, 09:03:30 AM
Can anyone recommend techniques for relaxing for this procedure as I know being tense does not help. Also can taking pain meds before hand help? Thank you

Trans v scans are very simple.
I had one last week. Not uncomfortable or painful at all. They lubricate the instrument well and it’s done within 5 minutes.

Just relax, think of something nice you are going to eat or do afterwards.

Best of luck 🌸

Hi Birdwatcher. I agree with NAS. I think it is usual to feel apprehensive about any procedure but I found these scans really easy and not painful at all.

Let us know how you get on.

They are not so bad at all.  I am a total wimp about any procedure but honestly it's ok. I don't think pain medication is necessary.  Good luck.

I agree with the other ladies.  I've had many of these & didn't find any of them painful in the least, but as Taz said it's only natural to feel a bit apprehensive with any new procedure.  They don't take long & before you know it you'll be back out in the fresh air again.  And probably the rain!  Good luck, not that I think you'll need it.

Yep, agree with everyone else. It’s a very gentle, painless scan. A small probe with lube is gently inserted, not very far in btw, a few pictures are taken on a screen next to you and that’s it. No pain, nothing sharp and takes no time at all.
