I’m 50 and started everol patches and Provera 27 days ago. I’m currently on the 5 day break of Provera and should be having a bleed. That hasn’t happened though. Should I be worried? Before starting HRT I was still having a monthly cycle and the nurse told me I would have a bleed during the break from
Provera.

Hi if you are in peri menopause then the normal dose of Provera is 10mg for 12 days out of every month. If you are post menopause then you take it every day at a lower dose.
Is there a reason that you have been prescribed to take it with a 5 day break ?

I was given 5 mg to take for 25 days and then have a 5 day break so that I would have my period. I was originally put on utrogestan but couldn’t find it anywhere so was switched to Provera.

Hi I would check the prescription you have been given as you should be taking it for 12 days every month if you are in peri menopause. The doses are on page 6 of the document i age the link to.

Thank you Dotty. Definitely prescribed to take 25 5mg Provera and then a 5 day break. Going to call GP tomorrow and double check what’s going on.
