Title: Laser Therapy For Muscle Inflammation
Post by: Ayesha on July 07, 2023, 10:45:06 AM
I've been suffering badly with a flare up of my back muscle problems lately and I am thinking of trying this treatment for the inflammation, I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and what the end result was if any.

An old thread but some discussion on back pain and use of a cold laser.

Many thanks for the link, it's interesting reading for sure.

My muscle flare up coincides with taking statins when before I was doing so well with exercise. I am going to wean myself off them to see if any improvement,  if not I will go down the laser route.   :)

Interesting about the statins connection - may I ask, which 1 have you been prescribed?

It will be cold laser treatment - because lasers burn ;-)

My mum had muscle inflammation issues with taking a certain statin. It started when the GP moved her to a cheaper one, Simvastatin, but eased off when she complained and they moved her back. I think the one she was okay on was Atorvastatin.

I started with  ‎Atorvastatin and I lasted 4 days on them, the side effects were immediately horrendous. Now on Rosuvastatin but still got side effects and decided to take one every other day.  I don't know whether my symptoms are to do with the statins but since day one from March onwards I have been very unwell when at the time things were going so well.

They can cause intense side effects.  So far we haven't had aches and pains after 5 years on AVostatin.

I had the laser treatment on my foot. It was supposed to help the muscles heal. I think I had about 6 weekly treatments, and they helped for a few months, so i tried another course and it helped for a similar time but nothing longer term.

Were you advised to rest or exercise in between treatments?

No, it was a chiropractor who did the treatment, and she didn't suggest any exercises.

I had read that the treatment can be temporary and it's hugely expensive too.
I thought back to why the flare up was so bad and I remembered when out walking I climbed over a log and lost my balance, my DIL grabbed hold of me to keep me from falling down further that I think that's what must have caused the muscle inflammation to be so bad. Anyway, with treatment I am feeling a lot better but will have to think about seeing a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor to get a good exercise regime going further.
