Title: Blood test results for Testosterone etc - advice please?
Post by: Julia Dizzy on June 30, 2023, 12:41:33 PM
Hi,
I have had my bloods done recently and results are as follows:-

SHBG - 37nmol/L            (states normal range is 13.00 - 128.00nmol/L)
Free Androgen Index - 3  (states normal range is 0.00 - 15)
Serum testosterone 1.1nmol/L (states normal range is 0.30 - 1.67nmol/L)

I have previously checked on here and found normal levels should be as follows:-

SHBG 18-144nmol/L
FAI over 50 years old 0.10 - 4.95
Testosterone 0.7 - 2.8nmol/L

My GP has marked all as satisfactory. I am on Estradot 50 and Utrogestan 100mg every night with 2 pumps of Tostran per week. However it looks like SHBG and FAI are a bit on the low side?

Anyone explain these further, (Hurdity??) - do I need to increase any of my dosing?

Many thanks.

Newson health doctor told me that an FAI between 2 and 5 for symptoms to resolve. Mine was 0.9 recently. So looks like you’re doing well with 3.

The main thing is that testosterone levels should be within the range for women. You should also go by the lab ranges where the tests were done. Yes that FAI value looks great, but the most important thing is how you are feeling. how your symptoms are?
